Why do I often see an ad covering the thread titles?

Often see a tiny ad for the University of Phoenix that is not below the ad heading in the left column when viewing a forum. For example, just now--the first one for TireRack is correctly positioned to the far left in looking at the New Posts screen. The University of Phoenix one isn't--it is offset to the right on the screen and covers several lines of thread titles. Scrolling down doesn't get the ad out of the way.

Annoying and makes me think less of University of Phoenix, plus I skip the the threads underneath if I can't guess the subject.

Macbook Pro w/ current rev. Safari browser if that helps. It's always that one ad, so I expect it is a site side problem.

I agree - when I run without Adblock, some of the ads cover a good portion of the titles. As stated, there is no way of scrolling around the stupid things. I use Firefox 3.6.15 but this has been an issue for awhile. I avoid the issue at work by having Adblock Plus active for this site.

I see it using Google Chrome....

Guess the powers that be are censoring the titles.

I use Firefox and I never see the pop-ups/ads that people talk of here, but I know they exist.

There *should* be a little X in the corner of the ad to close it out. Just a side-effect of enjoying a cost-free site. A pop-up blocker can help, like those above have mentioned.

If it's not able to be closed out, it may be that the ad is the wrong size for the slot it's in. If you see it again, see if it can be closed out and let us know, so we know if something needs to be looked into.

I finally saw it and grabbed a screen shot, IB has been contacted. I appears the coding for the add is in error making it larger than the box provided, I'll update with more news as a I get it.

Thanks for the info, Drew- we are looking into it.

We could use the click thru URL. Can someone please PM it to me, or respond here? Just click the ad, copy the URL, and send it over.

Thanks! Will have this taken care of asap.

We've temporarily blocked the ad until we figure out what the issue is. If anyone sees it, please nab the URL.
