Is traffic on NAM way down?

I haven't been posting actively for a while, but since I've been back it seems like there's not nearly as much activity here as there used to be.

Just as an example, the "General MINI Talk" forum only has 15 threads that have any activity in the past 24 hours. Likewise, the "Detailing 101" forum only has four threads with any activity in the past day, which seems strange considering it's August.

I expected activity in the first-gen forums to taper off once the R56 came out, but it seems to be site-wide. Even the 2nd-gen coupe forum only has 14 threads with activity in the past day, and going back just two dozen threads in that forum takes you all the way back to the afternoon of the 17th.

Has this been going on for a while? I remember when I could pull up "new posts", and by the time I got through all of them, hitting "new posts" again would pull up a fresh page - it was almost impossible to keep up with all the activity.

Probably has something to do with summer. People are outside and on vacation.

Yeah, we are not seeing any pattern of slowing down. Views, posts, and new members are all up and have steadily increased over time.

I know in General MINI Talk we are doing a better job of making sure posts end up where they really belong - that forum tends to be the garbage dump when people don't know where to post. So anything that starts there that belongs somewhere else gets moved.

D101 seems the same to me as ever - that's my home

A lot of things going on.

Look at all of the Mini things going on in the past month. I think a lot of Mini owners are just out having fun,

Wow, are you sure? Going back just two dozen active threads in D101 takes you all the way back to August 8th. I've hung out there a lot and remember the traffic being heavier in years past.

Looking back through the threads, there have been more threads in D101 with activity in the past two weeks than in the same period last year, but significantly less than the same two-week period in 2008, 2007, or 2006.

As for the rest of the site, I can understand per-forum thread counts being down because of the sheer number of new forums as new models have been introduced, but I've never been able to keep up with all the new posts as easily as I've been able to in the past few weeks.

I really hope that I am just imagining the reduced traffic - I love it here!

Week to week our traffic is pretty much the same as where it's been for the past two years, weekends tend to see fewer hits than weekdays, though. Don't tell your bosses

Yeah but the way D101 has evolved has sort of been a handful of major threads that will get sometimes a couple dozen posts in a day...so I think it evens out.

I don't believe it, but even if NAM still is experiencing the same levels of traffic, it appears that most of the new threads/posts are just a clutter of spam and off-topic mumble jumble. Or vendors advertising their amazing products. Of course, this is just my opinion.

My opinion is that you should be able to have an opinion even here on NAM. Lots of folks like Spam lunch meat. I read somewhere that Hawaii is the biggest market for Spam.

Pan fried Spam on white bread with mustard is almost as good as a fried bologna sandwich, which is quite good I may add.

On the first gen side, thing's HAVE to be down...seems there's just not a whole lot going on over there. Seems dead to me.

I know a lot of people as well as vendors post elsewhere.

In my opinion, the R56 forum here has the most traffic and content out of any other forum, so here I stay and here I post.

Oh and to add what Drew said...this forum falls on its face during the weekend. All week long, I can sign in maybe hourly and there will always be a handful of new posts since the hour before, but come Friday night through Sunday, it's deeeeaaad. Goes to show that people are posting on here when they are at work...and I would assume supposed to be working

And remember folks the content is what YOU make it. If you want to see something discussed start the new thread on the topic, you might just find it interests others as well!

There's also a little bit of 1st gen having pretty thoroughly explored it's mod options, people still learning on the 2nd gen, and the countryman will spike new interest for a lot of folks, and hopefully renew interest for those that parted with their MINI due to kids.
