strange window problem intermediate

am wanting fix the passenger side window in my 2005 R52
before tearing into it i want to confirm that i am on the right track and have needed parts as need to be ordered

the passenger side front window some times wont go back up tight after the door closes
it drops down slightly when the door opens but stays down when closed
have to wiggle the switch to get it back up

my current plan is to replace the motor or clean it up as i have read they suffer from getting gummed up

does this sound like a reasonable way to proceed?

thanks

Thanks for the heads up.

If its does not move up at all when the door closes then its the motor being sluggish or the point need reset again. Try the reset, if it still does not work, then its the motor.

In 6/2005 there was a part # split, so get the production date off your door jam sticker.

This can also lead back to a door lock actuator issue, if the latch doesn't detect that the door has closed it won't trigger the window to return to it's proper location after the dip.

If the window works normally in all other aspects of life I wouldn't go right to the motor as the issue.

Welcome.

I would check the wire plug on the harness to the motor first, but my guess is the motor internally is making contact, then not.

Its always from production date when it falls on that date. So the 6/05+ is what you need. So, MINI part # 67626954276 which is linked to first link in post #3.

update
took pass door card off and removed motor and cleaned
reinstalled and reset

working better, switch moves window up and down fine
but once in awhile window goes down small amount when opening door but doesn't go all the way back up like before
if open door again and close it goes down a little bit again but not up, so if keep opening and closing you could say it ratchets down

can put-up with switch, any ideas? its a little annoying cause if i don't check it can accidentally leave car with window slightly open and then interior gets wet

thanks

My guess is the connection is better but it still has internal contact problems on the internal brushes via the window motor. I would test out with a new motor. Or if you have a spare one.
