Count me in!

Count me in for Week 23!

CAPO - I ordered mine about a week before you and have been agonizing over the status of my MC on the OL. Finally, I called ASK MINI and they told me my order was due for completion in the first week of June, Week 23.

Has your OL status changed yet from "on order"?

Awesome build btw! My order isn't nearly as nice, but it certainly is nice to my bank account.

I think I'm on for week 23, at least that's what I've been told by 2 different reps on the ASK-MINI help line. I do know I need a support group! I ordered much earlier than either of you - April 20 - so this has seemed like an eternity.

Anyway, here's what I ordered:

Dark Silver with black roof
Convenience package
Premium package
Sport package
Cold weather package
Rear spoiler
All-season tires
Rear fog light
Sirius satellite radio
Smartphone prep
Rooster red leather & cloth seats
Rooster red color line
Anthracite headliner
Chrome-line interior
Hi-fi sound system

Right now I'm driving a borrowed car that's costing me more in anti-freeze than in gasoline (neither the owner - a good friend - nor I wants to spend the money to find/fix the leak).

- David

Very nice
they had my chili red down as pepper white for the first few days, but from what I have been told that's common.
This is a way better than just picking one up! nothing like it.

Wow, April 20? And I thought I was having a rough time with the wait. I thought the Owner's Lounge would be so cool to keep track of the progress. Turns out it's making the wait even worse for me. Every time I log in, I hit the track MINI link, enjoy the cool music and flash animation in high hopes of... nothing.

Well, we're all in the same boat now and we can get through this together. Geez, you would think I was talking about a nuclear disaster or zombie apocalypse with that kind of phrasing. But no, just waiting for a MINI to get here from England. This car certainly has an effect on people...

From my understanding, all dealerships have a certain number of production slots that are used for cars they keep on the lot and for customer orders. Most likely, the dealer gave you a production slot that was already scheduled with a MINI for their lot. Rather than giving you the next free production slot, they let you "cut in line," so to speak. My SS/W order was Oxy Blue for a couple of days after I got my Production Number, but it eventually updated with the correct specs.

My MINI is heading to Long Beach after the boat ride. As of right now though, I'm pretty sure its just a pile of parts. The most beautifully designed pile of parts ever...

Yeah, it's been rough. I've had quite a few cars in my time, but this is the only one I've felt this way about.

I know I've read this in a post somewhere, but what exactly does "week 23" mean? Is that when production starts or finishes? On a more philosophical note, is a car born when it starts production or finishes?

Weeks start with the first full week of the year, when it's finish is what I was told.
The people at ask mini told me when they start production was the birthday. they even gave me a time down to the seconds 5:16:10 am May 11, 2009

In Production!

So I called Ask MINI bright and early today and through the automated system found out that my order is currently in production! I have an estimated completion date of May 28, which technically puts me in Week 22 (I think). I guess I gotta start ordering Hydro and motoring badges now.

DavidJS - has your order status changed on the OL? You ordered way before all of us in this thread, so hopefully you have some good news to share...

"The vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet." I'll check again later, or tomorrow. I'm very depressed.

What a bummer. Sorry to hear that. It's nearly going to be a month for you with no update. Maybe you should get in touch with your MA or talk to a live person at Ask MINI?

I just sent email to my MA. ASK-MINI has me on their "Do Not Call" list.

You are singing my song... I ordered on 4/17 and the ASK-MINI recording still says that. As of yesterday (talking to a real person) I still have no confirmed production start date. At this point, I have to *make* myself not check the OL status daily. Last email exchange with my MA was also extremely vague - "end of May".

I don't think his original quote of 6 to 8 weeks is going to happen.

When the time comes, try to see what your dealer can do for you to make up for all the trouble...

I was quoted the 6-8 week thing too. Maybe mtubesing and I should coordinate our negotiations.

Actually, my MA is very nice, and the online community here estimated the same 6-8 weeks. I won't blame anyone if it's a bit longer. Still, it's good to have a support group.

And to the Week 23 2008 Support Group readers who are evidently watching with comic appreciation, yes, I do feel like you are our big brothers. A little extra comfort wouldn't hurt.

My car was built week 23 2008 and I didn't get any actual confirmation or my VIN until the Monday of that week. Take it easy and enjoy, the fun is only beginning once the car is actually built! There's still shipping schedules to track; I even got pictures of the boat going through the Panama Canal with my car on it.

A little comfort from an big brother? Nah, were just going to sit back and chuckle.

Be prepared for the "you were week 23, but now I'm showing you as week 24..," and missing the boat, and the question of "what's taking so long at the VDC?" and as a bonus if they ship your car via a K-Line ship you never really know what ship your on.

But it's all good in the end. Enjoy the ride.

Hello everyone. I believe that I am in this week too. I just called ask-mini and was told that my vehicle has an estimated completion date of May 28th. So am I in the right group?

Ordered a Horizon Blue / Tan / Black top / Convertible.

with a Panama Canal web cam of course!!!! you have to do some tracking via some other sites, but once you know you're there, you just have to sit up and watch the webcam

I think May 28 is Week 22.

A rep at Ask MINI told me my car would be completed Week 23, the first week of June. Since then, however, the automated Ask MINI told me my estimated completion date was May 28. And just this morning they bumped that date up to May 27. Weird, but I'm not complaining.

But really, Week 23 or Week 22? I don't think it really matters. So few people have joined this thread, so I say the more the merrier.

I got a VIN too!

Same here – I got my VIN too!

dslucki – How do you plan on financing the car? Reason I ask this is because now that I have my VIN, I can start applying for loans at banks and credit unions. My dealer was unsure whether they would be able to offer the 1.9-3.9% APR Program by the time my order arrives, so I might be able to get a better interest rate elsewhere. I'm just wondering what my next step should be.

Any advice?
