Week 23 Support Group
I borrowed a 9-year-old Oldsmobile Alero that a friend was going to junk. It has 179,000 miles, and more things are wrong with it than work on it. I've added more anti-freeze and water than gasoline. I hate it.
Everyone, my car is at the port. Since I'm on the west coast I figured I'd be on the Otello. Yet when I went to the tracking page http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/ I found out that I'm already booked on the GRAND DAHLIA which leaves 5/30 bound for PORT HUENEME, CA with an ETA of 6/19! Can anyone else confirm this? I don't even see the GRAND DAHLIA when I look at the scheduling page
For all west coast bound MINIs!!!
A major update today! I'm not quite sure what to make of this, so maybe some of you can shed more light on this situation...
So my MINI was born on 5/27 and Ask MINI told me it would arrive at the port of exit in the next couple of days. I checked the WW schedules and found that the Otello was the earliest boat headed for Port Hueneme, departing 6/6 and arriving 6/26.
Just for the hell of it, I decided to throw my VIN into the WW tracker app and lo and behold it found my MINI. It shows my MINI booked and received at Southampton, ready to board the Grand Dahlia, departing 5/30 (tomorrow!) and arriving 6/19.
So it looks like I'm getting my MINI a week earlier. Good news right? Not so fast – according to the WW schedule, there is no Grand Dahlia scheduled for that route. Furthermore, entering the voyage number (0003-GR1) yields no results on the WW website ("Voyage does not exist"). The website clearly states that all routes and schedules are subject to change, but it's still a little strange...
I am very confused with this. It seems like everything is in order, but the little details are worrying me. If anyone else is bound for the west coast, please track your VIN. There are 219 MINIs booked for this voyage on the Grand Dahlia. Hopefully, my MINI isn't alone on this ghost ship...

You aren't alone!

I did more investigating and it turns out the WW does indeed have a vessel named the Grand Dahlia. Still, though that particular ship doesn't have any scheduled routes for May or even June. And the voyage number (0003-GR1) still doesn't exist in the WW system. Even voyages in July that appear on the schedule are showing up on the website.
One thing I noticed is that 0003-GR1 doesn't really match up with the voyage numbers on the schedule. None of the numbers on the schedule begin with 0's and most contain letters in the first set of characters, which leads me to believe the 5/30-6/19 Grand Dahlia may have been an unscheduled voyage, added at the last minute to get our cars to us sooner (at least that's what I hope
).I'm banking on this as an unscheduled route, something that changed at the last minute or something. Hopefully it works out because thats a week shaved off our waiting time. Crossing fingers.
Birthday is the day it started production. You should have the day and time down to the second.
I'm driving a 97 VW Cabrio & 01 VW PAssat 4 motion. It is going to be like putting the two together to get a faster better handling convertible!

Grand Dahlia
Nice find. I'm using this website to track the Grand Dahlia. It says it just anchored at Emden, Germany today, 6:00 UTC. I hope it has enough time to make it to Southampton and board all those MINIs. Boarding this ship will cut the wait down significantly.
Oh the suspense. I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

Grand Dahlia on the K-Line?
After lots of google searches, I came up with more info on the Grand Dahlia.
Checking the shipping movements on the Southampton VTS website, it looks like the Grand Dahlia will be arriving and departing from the port on 5/31 (which is a day later than what the WW website says
).
Also, it says the voyage agent is Premiership Limited, and not Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. Perhaps this is why the voyage doesn't show up on the WW website. I checked the K-Line schedule and there's a K-Line West Bound (Trans Atlantic) Service departure from Southampton on 5/31. So this must be the Grand Dahlia.
EDIT: Nope! This 5/31 K-Line voyage is completely different than the Grand Dahlia. Despite not showing up on the WW schedule, the Port Hueneme schedule of shipping movements lists the Grand Dahlia as a WW vessel. It definitely must be an unscheduled voyage that was added recently. Lucky us!
The K-Line schedule is pretty confusing compared to WW, and there are no ETAs listed. Hopefully, we can track our cars on the WW website until the boat departs.
EDIT: The Port Hueneme shipping schedule also lists the Grand Dahlia (forgive the typo
) arriving on 6/19...

Good luck!
Yup
For anyone else booked on the Grand Dahlia, you can track its progress with this sweet website. It's extremely informative and seems to supply very up-to-date tracking. iPhone compatible too!
Enjoy the view while we wait.

Anchored!
The Grand Dahlia is now anchored at Southampton.
They leave some time tomorrow (Sunday, 5/31), so let's hope for a smooth loading process that gets us all on board before departure. My WW VIN tracking has not changed yet, but I hear it may take a couple of days after the actual loading of the car for the data to update.

I have found a static map which should allow us to follow the Grand Dahlia during the voyage. http://aprs.fi/static/355222000
Check your VIN again, mine shows that I'm loaded on the boat!

my car is in the paint shop today and scheduled to be done tomorrow. I really am/was hoping it would make the Undine leaving on June 3rd for New York on the 11th. Unfortunately it looks like I probably wont make it till the Maersk Wave on the 9th arrive on the 18th... that is unless mine gets picked up on a K-Line boat.

And now more waiting...
Same here. I got loaded up on 5/31 along with the other 220 MINIs onto the Grand Dahlia right before it set sail that very same day. I was a little worried because the WW tracking didn't update until Monday morning and I've heard horror stories about MINIs getting left behind at the docks.
Luckily that doesn't seem to be the case of those booked on the Grand Dahlia, the vessel and voyage that literally came out of nowhere. It truly is a pleasant surprise.
And now that our ship is out of range, I can calm down a little on the tracking. ETA for Panama is 6/11, so we have a little over a week before we'll get any info on it's whereabouts.
Until then...

I just called Mini and the automated message confirmed that my car is now complete and waiting for a boat! I entered my VIN into the WW tracking site, but nothing came up, yet. I'm hoping I can find the right boat, soon!!
Gha! mine is scheduled to be done today but according to ask mini is is still in Assembly/final QA. Waiting to get word on it being completed so i can start obsessing about what boat it will be on. I am guessing either way I am not making the june 3rd boat :(
Don't Worry
Fear not Week 23 East Coasters – your MINIs have the shortest trip across the pond.
Not sure exactly which ports your MINIs will be headed to, but if you miss the 6/3 Undine, you can still catch the 6/9 Maersk Wave less than a week later.
And keep tracking for VIN at WW. You can be booked on a vessel even before your MINI arrives at the port of exit, but the website may not display the most up to date information. That doesn't mean your MINI missed the boat, it just means the website needs a day or two to update...

Just found this forum!! Yay! Hi all! Week 23!! WOOOHOOO!
Ordered my MINI on April 14, found out last week that it was going to be schedule for production! Thought it was scheduled to START production on 6/3 (per my MA), but called the ASK MINI number and it is scheduled for COMPLETION 6/3!! Current status is "In the body shop."
It is scheduled to head in to Cali (PHMPOA)...any 'experts' out there know if it will make the 6/6 ship (as someone else mentioned)??
That would be SO nice...I'm using pedal power since I sold my former car so quickly!! 3 hours on Craigslist, got full asking price...at least it is nice in Portland!!
My MA told me last 2 weeks in July, first 2 weeks in August for delivery to the dealership...any hope to be in for a nice surprise?? Anyone else in PDX awaiting the same fate??
-Peace
