ALL ABOARD! Fidelio--leaving Southampton 11/4/07 -- Arriving Port Hueneme 11/26/07

Well, after what seems like months (maybe years) of waiting (and not all that patiently I might add), it's time to set sail for Port Hueneme on the Fidelio.

Mark your calendars, as 248 MINI's are currently booked! For our Canadian friends, there is a stop in Halifax on 11/12. I'm not sure if that's where the Canadian MINI's disembark, but if that's the case, this thread may be for you too.

Booking Number: GBSOU579377

Once we are underway, we can hopefully track Fidelio's progress here.

So sit back (this means you edbear67!), get to know your neighbor, and enjoy the cruise.

With a keen eye and some luck (not to mention compulsion!), you may be able to see them load the MINI's through this webcam.

Here is a list of all the VIN numbers for your browsing enjoyment.

Congrats to you too...now about that *Happy Friday*, I'm inclined to imbibe something tonight--after all, I can't worry about drinking and driving yet, right?

What acessories have you bought for your new arrival to fill the empty space in your heart? I know there's a thread for MINI names but shout them out here if you have one anyway. Here's my ever growing list:

CD visor holder
Seat belt holders- my arms are short
Mandarina Duck key case
2" Alta stubby antennae
Bulldog keychain- gift from Southbay Mini GM thx Bernie
18 " Black JCW rims
rubber tray for console
P.S. Congratulations to all of you who are getting on the FIdelio. Happy Waiting.

Alright, I've done some more poking around, and I have found a few more interesting sites.

First, the Fidelio is scheduled to arrive Southampton at 0730 UK time and depart 1800 UK time, we can check it's immediate progress here.

Second, when the Fidelio arrives in the Panama Canal on 11/18, here is a website to follow its progress through canal webcams.

Alright, well my new accessories include a euro-spec warning triangle (I'm still working on getting the mounting hardware) and retro-fitting the rear fog lights. Why would I retrofit rear fog lights on a custom ordered MINI you ask? Well, given that they are illegal in Oregon, the dealer wouldn't let me order them outright, so I have to find a way around the revenuers.

I pillaged the MINI mobility kit from my R53 before I sold it along with the Emergency Kit, which included a tow rope, emergency vest, and the bag itself. These items will also find their way to my new R56.

I also pillaged my MINI medallion from my R53 and will add that to my key fob.

That is all for now.

Welcome to the jungle my friend. Rest assured you are cruising on WW's new ship, Fidelio--a 2007 built workhorse.

Excellent links, Wolfshiem! My new MINI is on this trip as well. I look forward to checking the web cams on the 18th. I look even more forward to taking delivery of it hopefully in early December!!

The call sign for Fidelio is SLKR, from checking the sailwx.info site, it is showing no previous history. Less than 40% of the WW ships are trackable once at sea, so unless
your Captain checks in you won't see her again till she shows up on the AIS free maps when nearing the coast of Panama.

Well either way one of them will likely be there when you pick up you baby at the dealer.
You should be on the next ship that leaves next Monday baring any problems-we will be just a week apart!

I e-mailed my MA to tell him to expect both at about the same time

Congrats on actually being onboard a ship.

Yes, once at sea the ships are out of range of the AISfree software. As I posted above, unless your Captain does have and chooses to use AIS system, you won't be able to trak her on the sailwx.info maps.

Are we there yet?

I just double-checked to see if my MINI actually made it aboard, and thankfully it did! It was loaded yesterday at 13:30.

So, are we there yet?

My MINI is on board too! (Although according to ASK MINI it's still at the port awaiting transport and there's no shipping info yet!) Hopefully none of my British Racing Green will rub off on you guys!

Who will have the biggest change once his/her new MINI arrives? I am driving a 1994 Honda Civic with 272,000 miles on it. It has served me well and still gets over 40 mph! But it's SOOOOOO boring! I don't alway keep my Civic clean, but that will have to change with my MINI! I plan on keeping a couple of duffle bags in the boot and one in the cabin so I can store all of my 'junk.' Perhaps a small vacuum in the back to keep her clean.

Anyone picking up their's at Crevier? I wonder how long we'll have to wait after they arrive on the 26th?

Where did you find the call sign of the Fidelio? When I enter the ship's name in sailwx.info, it shows several ships of the same name, but not "our" Fidelio.

Never mind, I saw it was in the information about the ship I posted above.

No worries about the green,Wolfsheim and I are BRG to. But what is your roof color? I'm driving my old 96 BMW 328i that I sold to my dad because I needed to unload my 04 Landrover Freelander while Carmax was still willing to buy it for a good price. I thought I'd miss that sitting up high thing but nothing beats that inline 6 and being able to smoke my husband in his GTI without blinking hard. Can't wait to drive that MINI though. My MA seems to think that I should have my MINI within 7 days of 11/26.I'm with South Bay MINI. Happy Waiting.
