Im trying to think as creative as possible-however this is the "stock" class and this pretty much forbids tampering...

Oh well, its the skill the counts.

When considering autocross two things count the most to lower your run times-
The driver's skill level (most important!!!)
The tires used (sticky is good, Try Kumho V710 or Hoosiers)

These two things count more than almost anything else you can do, add, delete, or change.

Be creative but don't forget driving school (for the nut behind the wheel).

I have a 06 MC on order. I was going to remove the big cup holder. I thought the cup holder was installed in the USA after the car made the trip across the pond. Guess I better leave it in place.

I run locally not nationally and more for fun. I am concerned because I have let others in the HS and HSL drive my car when theirs was not available. I would not want someone in the running for a trophy protested.

The cup holder is installed at the port/distribution center, which is an extension of the factory. (In the eyes of the SCCA)

Isn't a cup holder comfort and convenience? Which bonehead ruled on this?

Well, I've resigned myself to not installing the Whalen. The cupholder. . . meh. . .I guess I'll bring along to the important events.

I'd think the cupholder (and euro parcel shelf?) could go C&C, but if I ever thought I'd be a contender, I'd put it back in.

And my stock antenna

The cupholder is attached by a fastener and is not allowed to be removed... it would be a weenie protest, but all the '05 cars at nationals had the cupholders...

arent the 05's bolted in? Also, the dealer options list for my 05 said "multi function wheel, and cup holder."

Was it standard the whole year? Mine is an april build i think.

Uh, oh! My '03 MC has the updated '05 cupholder (12 races).
So, when I go to the Hawaii Regional run-offs in 2 weeks, someone in HS can protest and will lose my first place standing and points?

You can add the cupholder as comfort and convenience. You just can't remove it if your car came equiped with it.

I would be surprised if you can't remove it under the same
rule.

Oh, okay. I will use that as my explanation even though I installed it to corner balance my MINI.

Can it be moved to a different location? The trunk, glove compartment, or back seat footwell for instance?

Assuming no: the cupholder in our '06 was fastened with screws AND double sided foam sticky tape. Could you replace the sticky tape with felt and reattatch with screws only for events without fear of weenie protests and (more importantly) a clean conscience?

You've got to have the cupholer--it's the single most effective performance mod, with the exception of a reduction pulley. Since adding the cupholder, my Mini just screams off the line, and the torque is much more accessible in the lower RPMs...

If the new scoop does not give a performance advantage, then it's allowed in Stock class. For instance, replacing the stock scoop with the chrome or carbon fiber MINI scoop would be fine for Stock class.

As for the logos, you're technically not supposed to de-badge your car in Stock class, but I can't imagine anyone protesting you for doing it, at least not in a local event.

Just a note- This is an H-stock forum and all Coopers have no air scoop.
If you have an MCS then you are eligible in G-stock but not H-stock.

If you change the air scoop you must change to one that is physically the same dimensions as the stock version- the color or finish can be different. Any scoop that allows a greater sized opening for air is not legal in Stock classes.

Removing badges technically would not be allowed for stock classes in my region. Whether someone complains about it would vary with your competitiveness.Removing the antenna same thing.

Removing the spare tire, toolkit, mats, are all OK, even the rubber covers on the hubs of stock 16" wheels.

Shift **** needs to be stock.
