Sunroof slow you down?

I've got a sunroof and I'm wondering how much this would affect time. I wouldn't think that much, but considering the fact that it weighs in around 60 lbs and in the worst place possible, has anyone noticed a big difference?

its not that much additional weight, cause it does replace whatever the weight of steel is when there is no sunroof...but im not too sure, i run with a sunroof as well.

It's not just the glass. It is the monkey behind the wheel

lets see there are two pains of glass the tracks, motors, switches, retractible Shade" thingys... Yes have a lot of weight up there in the wrong place.

Can it slow you dow? Yes

Will it matter? Maybe.... Why do you run?

Are you just doing it for kicks or are you going for a national title?

For Kicks and bragging rites at the local MINI club ... I bet you will not even notice it.

For a National Title, Yes EVERY GRAM counts.

Remove those 2 back seats if you want a lightweight car. I had friend who removed it from his eclipse since no one ever sits back there anyways.

Removing the back seats puts you in Street Mod because it is considered "removing the Back Seats"

Street Touring has no allowance for removing stuff for weight savings, other than the part replacements that are specificaly allowed (front seats)

DrDiff would be correct about unless you're going for a national title, the sunroof won't matter. I ran last year with a sunroof car plus every other option that'll add weight and beat fully lightweight MINI's in GS running the same tires. However, I would not agree with DrDiff in that every gram counts. If that was the case, 95% of us would need to go on really big diets before we start worring about 10 lbs on our car. At the local level, get yourself comperable tires to everyone else and learn how to drive, only 2 things to worry about.

Drivers weight does count. Michael Schumacher has a weight clause in his Ferrari Contract. Too many Beers or Viener Schnitzel can caus him to gain an ounce. Negating the $$$$$ that they invest in ultra light weight gizmoz and gadgets. Didn't nascar punk Robby Gordon belly ache about Danica Partick's weight advantage???

If you need that last 0.0001 second time to start going to the gym as well as investing in weight reduction for the car as well!

If you only run once in a while, tires and driving school.

Don't worry that you are drinking a extra large diet coke when you order your super sized extra value meal... Extra Cheese and mayo on your subway sub...
