Pittrace Match Tour registration is open. Looks like two locals signed up for SMF, no ringers yet, so could be fun.

Just signed up. A crx that broke last year in Harrisburg fixed and added a turbo. Great there goes my chances of even being close. That car went last year and got 2nd and 3rd.

Should be a good time regardless. Looks like I'll be driving a GTI in GS, cashing in on an owed codrive.

My weight reduction ended up being 2408lbs lol Burglar told me that is how much his Mini weighs,
oh well it’s staying heavy.

This is with the gas light on, the OE 16" wheels w/ snow tires on, floormats, cargo cover & tools in place, OE exhaust, and obviously me not in it. 2402lb.

The big exhaust probably adds a few lb, the bigger but lighter wheels probably wash. My cross weights here also talked me into buying adjustable drop links for the rear bar.

Car felt like way more than 244whp to me. I was basking in the glow of all that power, and didn't realize how fantastic your hand inputs are on that steering wheel. That's ace stuff, calm and accurate.

My region folk give me endless grief for my wheel inputs. Not so much the busyness, the corrections are fine, but my tendency to crank like 90° of angle in 0.01 seconds.

Don't come to Detroit - we have no sites. If we get Toledo Express Airport back though, that's worth it. It's nice concrete and big enough to make Nationals style courses. There's currently a lot of Jeeps sitting on the part we use so we have to wait until people buy them.

I won't be at Nationals this year, but I highly, HIGHLY recommend at least one trip out there. Seeing the paddock with 1200 cars, and the tents that regions put up alone is cool.

To get an idea of the size of Lincoln, the two red boxes at the bottom is where the two courses go. Each one of those red boxes is ~720,000 sqft. For comparison the Pittrace course area was 360,000 sq ft, so each course is double the size of what we had at Pittrace.

The red box at the top is where the practice course is set up. The practice course at Nats is about as long as the full course at Pittrace. Everything in between is paddock. It's a mile from the back corner of the practice course to the back corner of the East course. Place is just unbelievably massive.

On top of that, the concrete there is grippy as is, but with all of those cars running, a TON of rubber gets laid down and the surface gets crazy grippy. Huge fun.

only thing we get in this area is tiny mall parkinglots/park&ride with light poles, and a small airport with crumbling tarmac

This is why we want Toledo Express back so bad. True, the paddock has to fit within that space too, but we have enough room to make a full Nationals style course.

Our best local lot is 1/3 the size - 350k sqft vs 1 million.

I need to plan better next year. I wasn’t going to do any national stuff. I just didn’t know how this Mini would do. Definitely hitting up all the close surrounding state ones.
I was upset this past weekend because we only had 16 people show because of rain. And we only did 6 runs on a 35sec run. Ran 10 to 115 with a hour lunch. We could have done at least 3 more runs in a hour. And it was drying up.

If you want to get hyped about Lincoln, the Speedway Motors videos are pretty great. I've somehow managed to make the video all 3 times I've been to Nationals, I know people that have specifically been trying to get in the video for years with no success.

- me sitting in my other car at 4:26
- my Mini at 3:08
- back of my head at 2:59

Like I said, if you enjoy autocross, it's worth at least one trip out there. Especially if you do some national events and start to meet people outside of your local region. It ends up being a 6 day (including the 2 pro finale days) party with a little bit of autocross thrown in.

EDIT: I am ultimate fail at YouTube. When I try to imbed a video, it fails. When I try to make them links, it imbeds them. Oh well.

>60sec courses with high average speed are real addictive.

Have I tried to sell you on Pro Solos yet?

25% drag racing, 75% autocross
2 mirrored courses
Drag start (reaction time counts) with a person next to you on the other course
3 sessions of four back-to-back runs each, you alternate courses

It's like autocross concentrate. Courses are usually ~35 sec range, but it's a different high.

Matt I was thinking Im running close to 3degrees front camber and rear sway bar at its stiffest. So my Mini turns better or turns easier. Looks like your Mini pushes a lot because you can't change camber. Thats why you have so much more wheel movement, I bet.

Curses rules! I entertained the idea of trying an STX lite build (camber, coilovers, tune, 15x9s) but since the car was DS competitive - and my DD - I left it as is.
