Post your autocross videos

I started recording my autocross runs last year and would like to see how other autocross tracks are being run. To start things off, here is a video of my last run from last weekend at Gulfcoast Autocrossers - if you have the bandwidth, it is best to use the "view in high quality" option:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkKIMtHH218

Let's see how many other videas we can get posted.

Thanks Gromit. However, the embedded version does not show widescreen video as well as going directly to the site and does not have the option of viewing in high quality. I did discover that the icon at the bottom right of the embedded version lets you get to a URL to the youtube site to see the full resolution version.

In case anyone want to know how to embed the YouTube vids, just copy everything to the right if the "v=", and come back here, click the red "Tube" button, paste the link, and you're good to go.

I noticed that recently uploaded files to Youtube that have higher than minimal resolution but are not HD do not have the option of viewing in high quality. This used to work and so I hope they fix it. I did find that you can add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to force high quality. Here is one of my runs from last weekend with that tag added:

Yesterday's autocrossing did not start well - near the end of the first run I overcooked the slalom, lost it and slid sideways into a fence I got scratches on the car and a video of the whole thing:

Yikes! Evidence that our sport is not risk-free. I'm not familiar with the R56 speedo: what was your max speed during the run? On slalom entry?

Max speed on the run was 80mph on the speedo. I am running 215/40/16 tires so that is 6% high making it a real 75mph. I have been running the slaloms at 52-53 on the speedo (real 49-50) and this time decided to see if I could do better - I guess I learned that 58 is too fast for me .

Yeah, I had placed that pepple there during my course walk earlier that morning. I knew that if I hit it I was not close enough to the cone. Made for a good effect though.

GoPro Hero Motorsports 170 deg. wide angle 5 megapixels. The panavise mount and all the arms and other attachments work awesome. The camera itself should be figured out on the couch and not at the track. Very vague controls. Great video. Still working on the sound settings. I did not download an event at Flagstaff and erased it at the next event at night trying to erase just one picture. Oh well. $180 at Pepboys while buying oil. People at my track bought the rest they had in stock. Enjoy the vids, will post more as soon as the next event is over.

Well losing the Flagstaff video I'm sure was no big loss. Maybe all of 40 seconds worth. It's kinda hard to have fun at a Flagstaff autox with most of the course designs barely allowing you go into 2nd gear!

gotcurves,

You know who this is don't you. Ryan - I drove up from Las Vegas for that crappy weather. Grey MINI Cooper S. Yokohama R-Comps.

How was your drive home in the soup? Did you stick around for the afternoon and did you go back Sunday? Are you going tommorow? I haven't checked the forecast for weather. You kinow if it says 50% Chance that means 50% chance of sun.

Later
