X brace legal for SM class???

See
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=113531

Is this legal for SM class SCCA solo events?

Hope my very low clearance will work with this brace- I'd loose about one more inch and I already am about 2" clearance off the ground in back of the front wheel.

Looking at the 2007 rules, section 16.1.G, I would say no. Subframe connectors are allowed, but they can't have lateral components that connect one side of the car to the other.

Thanks. I agree.

I also exchanged PMs with 90STX and confirmed it is not legal.

So maybe something good for track but not legal for SM class autocross for SCCA.

I feel for you - I'd like to try out the M7 USS on my cabrio, but run into the same SCCA classing issues regarding subframe connectors.

Is the USS not legal for STS? I'm guessing not since it's no good in SM. An excuse to take it off I guess.

The USS would not be legal for STS, STX, STU, SM or SP. Obviously Stock classes don't alllow it.

The OMP would be legal for the non-Stock classes though, as it ties two suspension points together. It also does directly between those two points, and doesn't attach anywhere else or tie the frame rails together. For those same reasons, it is PROBABLY less effective that the TSW brace. I emphasize probably only because I haven't tested both. Engineering priciples would indicate that it should provide superior stiffness via triangulation.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm going to take it off before the next autoX. I've only been to one this year, but the regulars were shocked that I blew away two purpose built civics. I don't think me telling them "it did nothing" would help me case if they challenged me.

As far as I can figure out.

X brace on MCS would be legal in FP class. Horrible PAX.
X brace on an MC would be legal in EP class.

Prepared classes limit car to have either turbo or supercharger but not both.

If twincharged with X Brace then EM (modified) class with another even worse PAX.
