TSW X-Brace - More pics
Pics of one fitment session... Milltek header, Borla cat-back... More test fitment to come! As you can see, Dr. Mike designed it so the X sits behind the cat... The prototype weighs 5.5 pounds, and we expect the production version to weigh about the same.
Production should start next week, assuming we get to test fit on a bunch more cars this week...

Same question. Specifically as it applies to the rear mounting points. Seems like bottoming out could have some ill effects.

Wondering why?? Not to cut this product, because I think it looks well made, but I'm not sure I agree with this statement.
They are actually quite different, the M7 and this one. It looks (to me) that this is more of a body brace where the M7 is more of a body to subframe brace. The M7 "might have a greater impact on handling. Without really seeing this in person and actually studying it I am really just assuming.
Simple, It won't compare. This will work as a solid cross brace should, robust anchor points, X bracing, no undercarriage interference. Nice job.
Paint is the lightest finish but isn't as tough as powder coat which adds some weight. Looks like the real deal to me.
You guys at TSW are doing great stuff for the MINI community.
Thanks

from what i gather if the omp brace is any good this one provides a similar function yet some sort of triangulation. I'm no engineer. I don't have an stb or an uss... i probobly never will but this one seems to make sense to my untrained eye. who knows. It's all hogwash as this isn't going to make a significant difference in lap times any way.
As a mechanical idiot who loves neat things made by trustworthy companies like TSW, I want to know as much as I can about this so I can spend my freakin' money.
What I'd really like is for someone like onasled, who's made his own race car in case anyone didn't know, get his hands on this thing, assess it, and report back.

did I mention that I've had a few interactions with TSW and they've all been incredibly positive? Don't know if that makes this product worth buying, but these guys have earned this shrewd consumer's trust.

It would probably fit. Or if it didn't, it would come with a disclaimer.

I would suspect as much, especially in light of the title of this post.

put up or shut up. I've read posts where you (onasled) make claims that the omp brace actually has an affect on handeling. So why wouldn't this brace do the same.
I'd welcome onasled's comments but truth be told he is sponsored by m7... That takes him out of this equation on un-biased information simple as that. From the looks this uss has just as much of a chance of working as the others do. It's made in a solid tubular fashion which means it should bend in the event of a crash (read: very good thing from what I've learned about crumple zones in a mini). It seems welded in such a way to add rigidity to the chassis just as the m7 uss or omp bar would.
I trust tsw as they are a company that seems to produce products based off of necessity of their own on track endevors. All my experiences with them have been more then positive to say the least, heck you can get mr. bibbee on the phone and the guy will talk you into boredom. That's just cool.
This is one of those subjective try it on a friends car and see if you can notice a difference or if you like it mods. So who's gonna be the first. Preferably within driving distance to me.

Well I am up in Ohio if that's worth anything and as long as the price is right I will probably jump on this version of everyone's USS
