H Stock Has anyone ran in an 07 in HS?
You caught me. I actually had a loaner last weekend at Arrowhead but it rained, so, its real hard to judge from that event since some heats had drier conditions than others but it felt good. Anyway, I am trying to get my hands on one for this weekend for Huntsville or the Salina, KS Divisional and I am also hoping for one for the HPT event as well. I have an order in for an 07 MC that should be here in mid-June, but, I am having a hard time resisting a MCS thats sitting on the dealers lot.

At this point, to be honest, I am going to take whatever the dealership gets into my hands first. This whole "trade assist" on my broken 06 JCW is making me nervous. Basically, the car has been in the shop for 60 days out of the last year. I have it back to stock and its been nearly a month since it broke down and still nothing has been done to finalize the trade assist, which is basically a voluntary lemon law buy back. Anyway, I just made another payment yesterday on a car I cannot drive.
The good news is, the dealership has an "S" sitting on the lot right now that I would gladly take, so, we shall see shortly.Craig

Alrighty, what's the verdict. Is it worth it to get an 07 MC for HS or is the 05-06 MC still top dog. Went and test drove both today and like the steering feel and ergonomics of the 05-06 better. 07 was a bit peppier. 05-06 better initial turn in, 07 overall better dampening. The real question is which is faster on an autocross course? I assume the 07 is heavier.

On my trade assist, its still not done, although, I have put 5700 miles on this new 07 MCS that I thought I was buying many moons ago only to be delayed with paperwork and dealer delays. Maybe I should take it back and get the MC instead since they are taking their sweet time with this and I am coming up on 2.5 months with the car at the dealership. ;-)
Anyway, anyone else run an 07 MC yet?

Any HS Mini's out there? I'm 8 months out from buying and am curious to see the difference. The positives to the 07 appear to be alittle more power, better transmission. The positives for the 05-06 to me are better feel in the steering and I can get an 05-06 cheaper. If the 07+ is much quicker I would just assume spent a little more, if they are very close I'll keep the extra cash. Keep this thread alive, let's get some results flowing in here.
I ran HS on a small course in Lincoln, NE a couple of weeks ago. You can look in the C.O.R.N. forum for pics and link to results.
I was the only HS entry, so not much to be learned about where it stands against others. I was faster than all but one of the GS entries. But I am not sure what that says either. Most of them weren't actually legal for GS (pulleys, rear sway bar, etc), but I think I was the only one on R compound tires.
I haven't found any HS legal mods available. I was running A6 on some light 16x6.5 rims. Everything was as it sat at the dealership, including alignment.

I was also interested but saw little on using the MC for HS, seems everyone likes the MCS for G stock.
I think the MC will be underpowered and with automatic might not be competitive enough. With manual transmission maybe.
I did try a Honda Fit in H-stock auto transmission with paddle shifters, stock wheels with Kumho V710 205/50-15.
I was new at it but was 1 second slower than an experienced Toyota Corolla (new) driver on Bridgestone RE-01R tires and he was 2nd usually in monthly events, the top driver wasn't there. With PAX I got 31st out of 120 and the top HS driver got 20th.
I think with manual transmission the FIT might be OK. Interestingly I switched from R compounds to RE-01Rs for the fun runs and got within 0.15 seconds of my best time using the street tires. Makes me think that the limiting factor is not in the tires but somewhere else- suspension or gearing.

Well... I've got 2 events in an 07 in HS so far this year. The first event didn't go as well as I had wished, was on 120 run v710's in 40 degree weather, needless to say I had a grip issue. The second event was better, I had on 20ish run A6's and the car felt like it hooked up great. I was 1.2 back from Evo instructor Tim Herron, in the same heat (he was in his STS2 CRX). The only other HS cometition (a Mazda 3) ran in the 2nd heat and he only had 1 dry run.

I'm pretty sure the Mini can get it done in HS (not sure with me driving it though!), it felt great, as balanced as my Honda felt last year. I'll know more after the Texas National Tour in a few weeks.
