Opening a thread for Lime Rock.

We race at 10:30am on Saturday. This will be the first split race of the year where the ST and GS will race separately. Good thing too . . . there are 36 ST cars entered for the race. Returning at LRP will be Tim Marren, former RSR team manager. Tim will debut his new Honda Civic si. We look forward to Tim's return.
196 Dicky Riegel and Owen Trinkler
197 Sarah Cattaneo and VJ Mirzayan
198 Craig Conway and BJ Zacharias
The 198 returns totally rebuilt after the fire at Barber. It will be fitted with the new Bosch engine management system. All three cars will also have completely redesigned fuel systems and cells. These updates address the fire and some fuel delivery problems we were having. Hopefully, Problem solved.
Lime Rock is a good track for the Mini's. We did well here last year. Lime Rock also turns out lots of mini owners. We look forward to seeing you there.

That is correct. The cars have been moved to a new shop in Kissimmee (Orlando) and we hired our own techs and engineers. This is where we have needed to be for along time as the shop is 100% dedicated to Mini's and RSR.
We moved right after Barber. It will be an improvement. All but one of prior crew moved with us.
The transporter is on the way to Lime Rock with the 196 and 197 aboard. The 198 is in Indy with the Bosch engineers getting it's final setup. It will arrive in Lime Rock on Thursday.

One of these days I will tell you guys what we just discovered and fixed . . . I have a deal for you . . . come to a race, swear silence . . . and I will tell you what has been plaguing the Mini's for the the last 4 years concerning the ECU . . . (hint, it's not the ECU).
I would love to post but at least 50% of the ST teams have the same problem and I don't want them to to know . . .

Bet you probably already know the the answer to that one...lol.
Go get 'em, RSR ! ! ! Win, win, win!
Wish I could be there , but packing up the appartment to move in 2 weeks - must visit family first and consume massive qualtities of tequila.

Everyone can thank the #02 Mazda RX8 for taking out the 197 car at the entrance to the uphill...arrgh! I was standing right there and saw the whole thing....what a bone head move.
When V J came over to the corner station after he got out I got his attention and explained to him what happened because he wouldn't have been able to see what had happened. He was bit perplexed.....
The RX8 driver dived bombed the Honda that had lost control (with some help) on Noname straight and subsequently buched up a pack of cars approaching the uphill turn in point. Well, the RX8 tried to make the pass by driving on the grass and then came back on and slammed into the Honda who then slammed into the MINI, breaking the right rear suspension. The wheel shortly fell off when V J limped the car over to the "optional" uphill corner. Both the Honda and MINI were damaged too much to continue but of course the RX8 drove on.....
Not sure what, if any, penalty was handed out to the Mazda driver. I do know that a fan had the whole thing on his digital camera and showed the drivers and a Grand Am official that was manning that corner..
Tough day for the MINI's....

Here is some photographic evidence of the carnage. You can see how the body is pristine in front of where the hub should be and how hard the #197 car got hit.
The spring looks good and they can probably just straighten the shock, a little heat, a BFHammer, NO worries! Be all ready to go next weekend.

The #196 car had a problem with the serpentine belt, twice. IMMIC, came off once for Randy, limped back to the pits, replace belt and driver, back on track, set fastest lap of the race 59.4 seconds, belt came off again. EOD :(
Wow that was a hit. Looking on the bright side if there is one, at least most of the damage was to the bolt on bits & not the tub. I'm wondering if a steel control arm would have fared better than that snapped aluminium one?
Keep on plugging, your day will come RSR.
