Lime Rock '08

Things have been quiet on this forum, but things have been hopping at RSR.

I don't know if I formally announced that the team is building a 3rd car. Let this be the formal announcement if you have not heard.

The new car #196, will debut at Lime Rock. The new car will incorporate everything we've learned in the last two years. Updates are in full force on #197 and #198 as well.

Driver line up for LRP:

Randy Smalley
Owen Trinkler
Mark Congleton
Peter London
Rick Johnson
Craig Hansen

We tested at Lime Rock on Tuesday (4-15). We were there to test the anticipated race suspension set-up . . . brake pad choice . . . run-in the engines, etc. It was successful and we were pleased with the results.

The team has also replaced it's Toter-home transporter with a Tractor trailer setup. With 3 cars we need more room.

We will be at Lime Rock in full force. Come join us and cheer on your favorite marque. Lime Rock is a Mini friendly track. With 3 cars on course there will be plenty to cheer for!

Randy

Randy, Mark, and all,

I think it's fantastic how much you have done with this team! Three cars now?
Truly, Randy, congrats on developing one of the better Grand Am ST teams out there. You've brought the Mini a long way.
See ya in May!

Hey Randy, congrats on adding a 3rd car, we are going to need to call you mini hendrick soon.

BTW - I caught a little thing on Speed last week with your car, it looked like some auto show in either Cali or Arizona not sure, but it had a little 4 mins or so on the RSR car

That was at the PRI (Professional Racing Industry) Show in Orlando. The show was 'Two guys at PRI'. It was a nice piece. Thanks!

Hi Randy, When will you be testing on May 6th? All day, AM, PM? I live a few miles from LRP and would love to stop by and watch the runs. We'll be at the Rolex weekend, for sure. Thanks! Harry

Damn! I just got back from a week off, touring the Napa valley wineries, then I have to work for a few days, and off to a 3 day on track driving event at Watkins Glen, getting back on 5 de mayo.

Unfortunately, I will be forced to work again on the 6th, otherwise, I would bring the picnic goodies!

Have fun - you guys are gonna kick some butt this year!

Being a sly devil that bit was not where I live! lol! Now the ECU has been properly tweeked, the car has quite a bit more responsiveness and torque. Having some fun at Watkins Glen this weekend.

I'm planning on stopping by to watch and shoot some photos and video ... Should be a great day, sunshine in the forecast, low 60's, 30% humidity .. compared to rain, low 40's, and scud at the VSCCA club races yesterday!

Randy, What a great crew you got there. Your cars show it too! Glad to see you have MINIUSA.com on the roof. I hope this means that MINI is finally spending some US$$$ in the right direction. Part of the MINI picture IS road racing and performance oriented.

Visited with RSR at LRP.

I finally was able to shake hands with Randy, Mark and others on the team this week. I went to Lime Rock Park for the test and tune day, unfortunately without my car. All I can say is that I was overwhelmingly impressed with this RSR team.

I write this to possibly help make members here aware of just how much work Randy and others have done to come up with a Grand Am race team of the highest quality. This is no barbeque first, race second team here.

I hope that all who read this really try and take the time to show up when this Grand-Am series comes near you. RSR is a team to be very proud of if you are a Mini enthusiast, without a doubt.
Show up and support this team! They certainly deserve it.
Thanks Randy and all the members of the team and their sponsors and supporting tech crew. Great luck and keep up the good work

Thank you for the kind words. As you noted, Randy has put an enormous amount of effort in building RSR into a very professional race team. The addition of Owen Trinkler to the team this year will only quicken our pace to the front of the field. The entire crew brings experience and pride to support our efforts.

MINI owners are always welcome to come by and introduce themselves. We enjoy sharing the Grand Am experience with our fellow enthusiats and hope to make their attendence at the races one they will not soon forget.

It was great to meet you and Paul, thanks for stopping by.

See you Memorial Day weekend!!

Mark
