I think we have them in the corners . . . they certainly have us on the banks. Unfortunately, a LOT OF Daytona IS the banking.

The Mini's aero is a real handicap.

I had a short dual with one of the APR VW's during the test. I took him in the infield. He got me back on the banking . . . catching the draft will be a key factor in the race. A season long battle is brewing!!!!!!!

Set your recorder for 8pm Feb 2 EST . . .SPEED. The race will be televised in a delayed broadcast two hour show.

If you catch a draft from a ST car, can you stay close or do they still "say goodbye"?

Good luck over the week!

Just remember to load up the thumb tacks in the automatic release bin, hidden away under the car.

where can you find qualifying results/live timing and scoring for today's race?

Off this page : http://www.grandamerican.com/koni/

links to grid and during the race, they have live timing. Also a live web cam, that doesn't show much, but at least you get a little view and some audio, no commentary.

2 RSR MINIs in the show!

well, the race didn't get 1 lap under green before a caution...no way to know what it was about, though (no streaming video for me at work )

I'd say they are doing great so far.

23 laps in (~1/3) race distance and still on the same lap as the ST leaders!

20 minutes to go and still doing great! up to 23rd and 34th spot! Out of 49 in ST, that's quite respectable for a MINI at daytona!

....at a 3 sec differential with the leaders in class they need a whole bunch of reliability problems with the other cars to pull this off...

Update

Quickly . . . a pair of flat tires doomed both cars today. We finished 31 & 36.

1st . . . the 198 had a tire go down just after entering the infield, Owen was driving . . . he had to limp for two + miles to get back to the pit. Car fell from top twenty to 35th.

2nd . . . the 197 had a tire go down at the bus stop with about 30 minutes to go. It cost Rick a dozen spots.

Pretty bad luck . . . but that's racing.

Details to follow soon.

Randy

Sorry I got here late.

Like you said that's racing. Bad luck at this one, but your cars lived on to run another day.

Do you think the high speeds on the banking caused your tire problems?

Many years ago 25+ a friend of mine used to run a GTU Datsun. I understand what an effort it is just to make the show at Daytona.

All of us MINI owners are very proud of you & team RSR's accomplishments.

Go get em at the next round!!!

Its great to see both cars running so well at the track least suited to the MINI.
