Shop - new tires

The 16" run-flats on my 2003 MC have finally bit the dust. And, I'm officially OVER run-flats

Based on some reviews on this site, I'm thinking of getting Toyo Proxes. They seem like a good value, and I don't need super high-performance tires.

I've read that some shops have problems removing the run-flats, and wanted to see if anyone had recommendations for local tire shops where I could buy these and get them installed. Anywhere b/t Denver and Longmont. Thanks!!

I had a bubble too, got it replaced

by Big O down here in Greenwood Village, on Arapahoe just West of I-25. I buy my other tires etc there for all of our vehicles and they always come thru.

Call there and ask for Ryan Garrett and tell him you are a MINI owner. He knows how to balance, install, and properly torque your wheels.

Way back when, these folks were referred to us by other MINI owners over at Denver BMW (motorcycles) and it has been a blessing.

Good Luck.

Great American Tires in Broomfield kept my car all day long only to call me at 6:30pm to say "we can't remove runflats"...after I verified that they could in fact replace my old runflats with new non-runflats when I dropped off the car in the morning.

for Great American.....after they put the wrong oil filter on my other car, leaving a big 5 quart oily mess in my garage I still went back to them. NOT AGAIN!

So anyways, good tire shop suggestions around Boulder/Superior?

Two suggestions for Ft Collins area.

Marlen's Tires - on Jefferson/riverside, the owner is Wally, tell him Grant sent you. 482-3873. Wally cannot do all types of runflats.
Goodyear Service - in the old cinema near the Sears mall, next to the old DMV building. Matt or John are the service writers. These guys can do ALL runflats.

My MC is brand new, less than 700 miles and five days old, so I have a ways to go before replacing tires. But all this talk of non-runflats being so good led me to believe the ride with the standard 16" Goodyear runflats would be harsh and unforgiving. I've not noticed that so far, and I live in a rural area with back roads badly torn up by frost heaves and disintegrating pavement. Even driving down my rough dirt road isn't so bad.

So are non-runflats better because of the ride, or because they grip better, or what..? Pete

PS: I was also surprised to find my MC came with a little spare. I thought the deal with runflats was they came without a spare.

tires

I hated my runflats and am so happy to be over them. My tire dealer is a racer for over 25 years and there are lines in front of his store every day. He knows his stuff (Radial Tire in Silver Spring, MD). They recommend the Toyo Proxes. I went with the BF Goodrich T/A. from tire rack. Happy so far. Both would probably work great.
