Sat October 11th meet at 10:00 am at the Safeway parking lot on the SW corner of 28th & Iris in Boulder. We will motor to Brainard Lake, above Ward, then have lunch at the Sawmill (or somewhere in Ned if people prefer) then head back down either South St Vrain Canyon (Hwy 7) or the way we came up.

Mark should be announcing at tomorrow's MINI5280 meeting. We look forward to seeing you there! If you haven't driven to Ward, and on Peak-to-Peak Hwy, they're nice and twisty. And scenic. Brainard Lake is at 10,345'

Roughly, from where we're starting in Boulder, it's a 45 minute drive to Ward, with another 10-15 minutes to Brainard Lake. Then, depending on how long we stop at Brainard Lake (30 minutes?) and if we eat at Millsite Inn near Ward (at least an hour)... that could be total of 2 1/2 to 4 hours. Millsite Inn would be funny to bring a bunch of MINI's to as it's kind of a biker bar, but also lots of tourists on their way to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park.

It's a great drive I used to hike up to blue lake years ago. You know of course there is a Parks toll to get to brainard. I think its $6 per car.

You're right, it is $5 per vehicle, IF they are there to take the entry fee. Usually the station is not manned. But just in case, please have $5 on hand....

A couple of shots from the drive. We all had a real nice time even though the event turned out to be somewhat shorter than planned since the park was closed. :???: I didn't record the exact mileage but I left Denver around 9:30 and was home by ~2:30; it was real nice to be able to sleep in (it was a Saturday after all) and be home in the early afternoon.

We'll have to revisit this drive next fall when the aspen are showing off their colors.
