Can you "lock" the stock seatbelt tight?

When I solo ran my GM I could "lock " the seatbelt by pulling on it real fast then move the seat forward to tighten it up to hold me in the seat.

Can you do that on a Mini S?

Sure you can! I lock mine down when doing track events and sometimes when making "spirited" runs on the Dragon when I don't want to slide around in the seat. The trick is to get the seat set back to your regular setting for pedal clearance. I usually move the seat back three clicks from my normal driving position, sit back in the seat and snap the belt to make it lock, while holding tension on the belt with one hand reach down and release the seat and move up three notches to my regular position. It is important to have a good upright seat position to keep it locked. Some people I know who like to drive leaning back report that it will come unlocked during a hard run due to having slack at the shoulder. One problem I have found when you get it really tight sometimes only one side of the seat latch will lock, it gets kind of cocked to one side when you move forward under tension. Wiggle in your seat some to get both sides to latch.

Yes, Nasa made me run the stock seat and belt at nationals. You lean the seat way back, and yank on the belt then pull forward till tight. Same as your GM and as far as I know every other car out there.

That, indeed, is the problem.

Here, though, is a positive locking mechanism for at least the lap belt: http://www.cg-lock.com/index.html

Check these out, many people use them Won't lock the shoulder, but pins you to your seat very well.

I like to sit up fairly straight when driving at the track and have never had the belt come loose on me. I really would like to have a harness though, because the single strap will make you sore over the couse of a day going across your chest.

The seat on my SS-S10 pickup would do that, lock one side. I would get a little rolling start, stab the brakes and pull the steering wheel to get the other side to lock. That little truck was a ball, they made me run F Stock WTF?

Tried the CG lock and didn't like it as it still allowed my upper body to maove around and I found myself gripping the wheel to hard. For track days you really need to check out the Schroth quick-fit harness.

Just remember that harness's that are not properly fit or used with the incorrect seats are more harmful than using the stock belts.

Yep. Only the Schroth belts are approved for use with the stock R53 seats.

What about for the R56? Do these install and uninstall fairly easily?
