RMW and Maitland Importers smash Road Atlanta record
RMW and Maitland Importers smash Road Atlanta record
Another new track record with more left on the table as Ian Stewart blasts the field by 4 seconds and takes the record by 2.5 seconds
Ian went 1:39.5 today....... to put this into perspective........in 2007 the Class record for TTA which is 2 classes above Ian in TTC was dominated with Z06 Vettes and Subies was 1:40 record time
We put on the RMW head combo this last week and re-tuned it remotely and tested it's efficiency on the track......WHERE IT MATTERS!
Tomorrow Ian goes for round 2 and let's see if he can better the mark
People who follow racing know Road Atlanta is NOT a Mini friendly track at 2.54mi with 12 turns and a very long back straight.
James Elterman recently joined NASA Southeast for their 4th Annual Hotlanta Challenge at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. The event not only provided an opportunity for James to learn about his competition from the Southeast, but it also served as a qualifier for the Super Street Super Lap Battle which will take place later this year in Buttonwillow, California. Only the top drivers from the Time Trial program would receive an invite. Despite the 100 degree temperatures on both days of competition, justifying the Hotlanta name, James and the ShimmySideways STi kept their cool and posted some red hot lap times. James enjoyed his first event sweep with 1st place finishes both Saturday and Sunday against a field of 6 other drivers. Incredibly, James also posted the TTA lap record in his last session on Sunday with a time of 1:40.100, besting the previous lap record set by J. Austin in a Corvette Z06 by one tenth of a second. The icing on the cake was that James’ performance did indeed warrant an invite to the Super Lap Battle.

Ryan
I'm in Puerto Rico til Tuesday, give me a call on late Wed to discuss... I've got the fix
those are some seriously stupid fast times and I think it might even go lower tomorrow
we got some great testing info today and will be releasing it after it's fully completed...... but early indications are scary if we can repeat it
it was worth a second a lap
Trending Topics
I'll try to post tomorrow as Ian texts me the info
Just think of the times if we built a "race car"
come out to Utah for Ian's run on a National Championship
You could see a major MILESTONE IN MINI HISTORY

sorry for the delay as there wasn't much coverage from the Flamenco beach
voted 2nd or 3rd best beach in the world
got a raging sunburn
ok, on to the good news...... Ian beat the record again
1:39.4 He was held up by vettes and GT3s on his hot lap and he stayed out to try and get a free run. On lap 5 he got an open lap and caught a Z06 in the final turn and had to lift. The Data predicted a 1:38.2 but the checkered flag came out and that was it. Not bad on a 98deg day in humid Atlanta
Knowing the data we got from yesterday the car has a 1:37 in it no problem if we go back to the setup we had when we ran with old tires
Oh heck yea!!!
Truly awesome results guys, just keeps getting better and better and your DOING the Mini community proud!!
PS: I'd loved to have seen the looks on those Vette and GT3 folks face and hear their conversations tonight....LOLOLOLOOLOOL
