RMW and Maitland Imports sets track record at Sebring!
Ian does it again!!!!
Now equipped with the RMW REMOTE TUNE and RMW header Ian smashes the record at Sebring by 3.6seconds........yes 3.6 seconds in over 100 deg temps
Ian's time was 2.32 and the next closest Mini was at 2:50 complete with a competitors stage 4 kit
Looks like the RMW methanol kit did it's job
I want to thank Howerton engineering on their help in giving technical support during the tuning process for maximum gains on the methanol
Ian is 2 for 2 winning at Homestead and now Sebring
Ian was also fast enough to have won the 2 categories above his
This post was prophetic

Your sometimes quite funny Jan.
Wonder if the nearly $4K worth of suspension upgrades had ANYTHING to do with Ian's times, not to mention his ballsy driving skills.
I think I would put my money on the fact that he just upgraded his Mini with close to full race coilovers. Watch the video compared to the one in this thread to which Jan made mention of "no suspension mods" when in fact he had. How come Jan didn't mention the suspension mods in this thread?
Ian, nice driving. You can really see the difference in your hands with the new setup. I'm sure the meth certainly helped in the hot weather.

Greg....
are you that sour that you have to rain on others accomplishments?
This is the first Mini to have ever won an open time trial. So when are you dragging yours out to compare?
here was the email I received from Ian so others can be the judge....
Jan, Again huge thank you. I could not have been anywhere near this
time without your help. And thank you for the advise on the alignment,
that was spot on. Car ran amazing with the tune. The throttle response
is a very very welcome addition on track as well, especially when I'm
adjusting the attitude of the car in the high speed corners like Turn
one (exit speed at 100) with the throttle. Here is the video of the
quick lap. The 2nd place car in class is the miata in front of me. On
a side note as I told Jeff, the little mini beat not only the next
class up but also the class 2 classes above that, TTS. The Evo from
the Homestead video was a couple seconds back showing the improvements
made in the car in the last few weeks.

Of note: the S2000 guys keep track of their fastest lap times, modified, race cars, street cars etc. This lap time takes down the fastest known time set by an S2000 around sebring...

Don't get it wrong the suspension was a big help. The biggest Issues I've been having with the car in the past was heat soak. This completely eliminated that in extremely hot temp's. We were seeing a heat index of over 120 degrees at the track. How do you get the intake temps under 120 degrees when your blowing 120 degree air on the intercooler. I had set the car up to be a one lap wonder with tires but stayed out to see how long the performance would hold and it ran consistant laps right on the record till I ran out of meth. Something interesting was I was taking it very easy on the out lap trying to keep everything cool. On the record lap I took the out lap fast using the meth. Car made more power. Jan's header also solved the sharp fall off in torque at higher R's compared to the alta header I did have on it. A good comparison is a friend of mine with a Race prepped E36 M3 was down at Homestead as well as at sebring this weekend. At homestead we'd be even off the corner but as the Rev's climbed he'd pull me enough to pull me out of his draft. At sebring I could lock in his draft with the extra torque at higher R's all the way down the straights. His M3 is as light as the mini running a full michelin Slick and ran lap times about a second slower.
Big thanks to Jan on his Help, early mornings, and late nights getting this car where it is!

I don't get the point of your post Jan.
Who's parade did I rain on? Yours?
Was just pointing out that Ian's times had a lot to do with his major suspension upgrades rather then what you claim in your post as being only the tune and meth.
<offensive content removed> I NEVER have ever compared my car to anyone's. It's just you taking my point way off topic once again.
Did I rain on Ian's parade? I absolutely did not. But if Ian takes it that way then I apologize to him.

WOOOT, great results Jan/Ian!!! Just shows what a Mini with great power and a good suspension set-up in the hands of a good driver can do!

Thanks for explaining the benifits of the meth kit and what it meant in settings your record. Can't wait to see what happens when you really get the suspension dialed in. Glad to see the header made a big difference also.
Maybe you and Jan can come up with a few other things to widen the gap on the competion.
Great job - Great record.

Hey, hot air ain't all bad Jan, actually come's in pretty handy when it's cold outside or you want to blow your hair dry, take a ballon ride, etc.... Just not very good for making HP...

the record he took was from an S2000
since the Hondata guys tune on our dyno, it will be some good natured jabbing when Doug comes in next time

if the Mini only had a cylinder head that flowed like that S2000.... you might trade your ...... for it

it is fun taking that record though, a big coup for the Mini Community
great job ian
congrats jan
btw, i can't tell you how many people asked "what's up with the mini?" after cruising through the corvette, bmw, evo traffic at njmsp/lightning last week
one sti guy is still prolly ticked off that he couldn't catch me. i owe this to jan's tune and a header as i've run with the same guys before on several occasions. now if only i could drive like ian!!
