Limerock track day with SCDA_10-31-08

Here's some in-car footage for all to enjoy this off season. This was my 8th HPDE this year, 2nd at Limerock - 1st in the dry. Had a blast and learned a lot and I still have a ways to go skills wise, but I'm happy with it. The best laps in this session were 102's and 103's but I couldn't get more than a couple at a time because of the traffic I was encountering, plus the short time I was out there per session.

Search for "SCDA_Limerock_10-31-08"

I'd post the actual link but it doesn't work like that for some reason...

Enjoy...

Hey buddy,

Yes it does! I didn't post it because I tried on nemini it wouldn't work so I figured it wouldn't here.....

I can't believe I'm only about 2 seconds off the RSR Mini's time....and there is more in the car!

nemini has it's own little quirks...

Pretty cool, only 2 seconds...the track looks a lot better since the last time I was there.

Nice video, what's your set up, camera and mount? Nice angle for the view, we can see the track clearly without the rear view mirror blocking most of the view and what the driver is doing. Would like to do HPDE next year and would like to video it.

Nice job! We tested at Lime Rock with the new pavement on the 'classic design' track and ran 58's. The time you are referring to above was at the Koni Weekend . . . old pavemnet . . . and was the ST track record (at least back then).

We had an unofficial lap time on the old pavement at 59.6 . . . the day was cool and so was the track. It makes a difference as we never could match it.

I'm not trying to take anything away from your times . . . they are awesome . . . it takes big B**** to lap that track at that speed.

Hey Randy,

Thanks for the kind words. After I posted that little boast I was thinking just what you said -- that you in fact were on the old pavement and I wasn't so I apologize for making that comparison so quick. But still I thought I was relatively close considering it's street car and to tell ya the truth -- my data logger was projecting a 101.6 lap in my last session but I caught up that painfully slow Jaguar at the wrong place so I lost that opportunity.

And don't worry about offending me...I've got pretty thick skin! Good luck in 2009!!

Bob

The camera system is from http://raceoptics.com/evolution.php but I use an optional mic because the one that came with it gets very disstorted at any speed above a crawl. I'd have to find out the brand if your interested since I can't remember right now. I did have one problem with the camera just recently and had to send it back to have it looked at. They couldn't figure out why the system wasn't working without sending it back to the manufacturer so they offered an exchange for a new DVR for $75 so I took the new one as I needed it for some upcoming HPDE's.

The files are really big even if it's only 5 minutes...like over 100 megs. That video you saw was 427 megs! So you may have to edit stuff down to get them on YouTube or the like....

And I use the suction cup mount which comes with it because I don't have a roll bar to mount it on... But it does work really well and I've used it attached to my motorcycle fairing at 130mph and it didn't budge.

Hope this answers your question....good luck in your HPDE's!!
