We were on vacation for about 3 weeks, and after we came back, my wife's car started having issues. I am getting these error codes even after clearing them. 2EFE, 2EE0, and 2F01. I've included snapshots of the scan tool with this and other information. So far what I've tried is the following:
Check the fuel pump in the tank, Low side. Appears to be working, it makes the priming sound when I'm turning on the key.
Swapped, Coil packs with cylinder 3 and 2 and also with 1. Error code stays on 3.
Replaced spark plug on cylinder 3 with new plug no change.
Replaced coil pack with a new coil pack in cylinder 3 no. change.
Fully charged battery.
Only ODB error that appears is the cylinder 3 misfire.
Looked at the fuel pressure output of both the high and low level fuel pumps. Pictures attached. Did not seem to see a change in pressure when increasing it from idle to around 3k. Pressure drops momentarily when I let off the throttle. Unsure how it should propery behave, but I've seen in posts that people are expecting it to be around 8-10 mPa when idle and jumping up to 17mPa when on the throttle, maybe I also read that wrong.
If anyone has further troubleshooting steps, or knowledge on what could be causing this it would be greatly appreciated. I have a scan tool that also has the BMW functions if that help. Thanks in advance for all the guidance.
So I have found some more information, and would like some ideas if possible. The settings I show above, are when the 3 error codes are active. Essentially the HPFP trys to stay around 10.5-11.5 mPa when it is one. If I reset the codes and the go into the HPFP reading, I can see it dropping to around 7.8 mPa at idle, and then going up to around 12ish mPa with a higher throttle, so I figure that most likely both the low and high pressure fuel pumps are good?. Please correct me if this is incorrect. However, I am not at a stump on where to go next? Like I mentioned, I swapped around the coils with no change to the errors made, I replaced the cylinder 3 spark plug with no change. I replaced the coil in cylinder 3 with a brand new one with no change. Next step was to change ALL spark plugs, but given that the new one in cylinder 3 had no change, I am not optimistic of the new set having any change in function. Please if someone could throw some ideas or point me what to look at that I haven't is would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
I would change all the plugs and coils out to help eliminate that and consider it maintenance.. What you've done makes sense for troubleshooting but this area of the ignition can be finicky.
Replaced all the plugs with new ones...no change. Swapped the coils around too, no change. Went into the live data and I was able to see the cylinder 3 misfire count just climbing up until the CEL came on, then the misfires stopped.
