how to raise engine idle

Ok here is my issue if i'm sitting at a stop light and let it idle at its normal 700rpms i get a multiple engine misfire but if i raise the rpms to about 1000-1100 it wont misfire is there anyway i can adjust it whether by reprogramming or whatever. i have tried fixing the minor things that could cause the misfire plugs wires new coil pack its probably the exhaust valves from what i have been told and not ready to shell out the cash to fix that just want the idle raised for awhile.

You have other problems you need to address, just raising the idle is a band-aide.

What codes are present?
How many miles do you have on the car?
Have you changed the plugs?
What cylinder(s) are you getting misfire codes on?
The #3 coil connection corrodes and causes a misfire, check the coil connections.
Fuel pressure?

These are all things you need to investigate or attain information on for us to better help you.

But to answer your question, coding. Either through the dealer or someone who has the capability to code the MINI ECU.

i understand it is pretty much putting a bandaid on it after it misfires at a stop light the misfrire goes away within a mile or so and runs like normal again

yes did the plugs also
car has 189k miles on it
its cylinder 3
and its a brand new coil
havent done fuel pressure

Check the plug torque, spec is 25 ft lbs but I've seen them come loose, so I've always added that extra little bit of torque to make sure they don't back out.

Is the coil a new stock coil, or auto store special? The stock coil is the best functioning coil for the car.

try switching cyl 4 plug wire with cyl 3 and see if the misfire follows the wire to cyl 4.

do a compression check, followed by leak down if low in that cylinder. I've seen lots of burnt valves that cause misfire at idle only. The ecu doesn't do a good job at flagging weak cylinder until under 120 psi.
