Moms 2006 Cooper S died with codes!!!!
Moms 2006 Cooper S died with codes!!!!
Here is the story... my mom was driving home the other day, and the engine lost power. she stepped on the gas hard, and it accelerated and then about 30 seconds later it did the same thing and then stalled on the highway and will not restart. we purchased a code reader, and this is what we got:
P0300 random multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0300 p/d
Mil on
monitors
0 inc
6 ready
misfire
fuel
comp
catlyst
evap
02 snsr
Do not want to start just throwing things at it, and would like to not pay a mechanic 700 bucks for something simple. I thought coil at first, but after some research it seems not alot of problems with these. What about 02sensor being completely shot. Would this keep it from running at all. The fuel pump does come on and cycle.
Please help!!! Thanks in advance for any replies.

The OP's post brings out a good point...
The OBC is NOT a replacement for a mechanic and the code(s) sent most likely will not pinpoint the problem. The real aid of the OBC is that it will record a "snapshot" of all the OBC's sensor conditions when the the fault occurred (rpm, speed, fuel pressure, spark advance,...etc). This information is much more meaningful to the mechanic. Let me repeat, the OBC is only a tool!
If you have a code reader, whatever you do, don't clear the codes the OBC has recorded and don't start buying parts thinking the problem will be fixed based on one particular fault!
I compliment the OP on trying to analyze the problem and not jumping to conclusions!
