CEL, P2421 EVAP valve stuck open.
CEL, P2421 EVAP valve stuck open.
My wife has a 2013 Countryman S All4, 6-speed manual. Has about 80K miles. We Brought it into an indy shop as there was a coolant leak. Mechanic isolated the leak to the thermostat, which he replaced along with a new compatible coolant hose. While there, he noticed a CEL, but told us he cleared it (without really addressing it).
Anyway, we had it for a few days before the CEL went off. Using an OBD scan tool, i got code P2421: evaporative emissions system vent valve stuck open. Does anyone know how i can fix this issue? I have the Bentley manual and access to other repair documents, but haven't come across any information on this EVAP valve. Searching on the forum, someone mentioned that it is below the air box. I could not completely remove the air box yesterday (hard a hard time pulling off the intake pipe from the box), but tried to peer behind/under it, but couldn't really tell what i what was looking for. I've also double checked that the gas cap is on tiighty.
any information on replacement parts (part no's)?
as far as i understand, the EVAP system is involved with venting/containing fuel vapors. any issues if we continue to drive with this error for the time being?
