Hello, I had the problem with the hood cable like many ... After spending a morning under the car trying to unlock my hood, I finally managed to open it. Then I removed all the cables except the one that goes into the passenger compartment of the car, it is as if blocked. My question is the following: has someone already replaced all the cables (two pieces) and especially how to remove the old cable and put the new cable which goes to the opening handle?

I just replaced the cable from the driver's side release to the engine bay, in addition to replacing the release piece. You'll need to remove the large trim piece around the hood release and detach the cable on the inside. I also removed the trim and plastic subframe pieces under the steering wheel. I had removed these for a different reason, so I'm not sure if this makes it any easier.

On the outside, remove the large windshield cowl piece above the brake fluid reservoir. The cable has a rubber seal at the back wall, pull this out with pliers (from outside of the car) to allow you to remove the cable.

I find I need to grease up the release latches under the hood every few months to keep them from seizing up (hence broken cable / latch).

 

okay great, I will order both cables and try your method when I have time (for now I just have a piece of cable to open my cover that goes out to the radiator) thank you again for your help. If I think about it I'll take some pictures if anyone ever needs help.

 

I am back to give some explanations. I installed the new cable this morning so nothing special to report. My little advice would be to hang a wire to help the new cable pass through the passenger compartment to pull it more easily (it's really very tight !!). Otherwise I greased the hinges of the closures and fixed the clip at the level of the pull handle to avoid the same type of problem in the future. it opens and closes wonderfully! and as a little bonus I installed a KN filter for fun: D thank you for the advice and see you soon!
