2011 Countryman S limp mode

Hey all, so I'm back with some more issues with my mini. It went in 3 months ago for open heart surgery (timing chain broke and the sprocket came apart). Gwt it back a couple of weeks ago and the battery had died, after the FRM module went out. I changed the battery and now it is in limp mode. I needed to get it to the dealer (which of course is 250 miles away) to change the frm, but now it's in limp mode and barely makes it around the block. Is there any way to get it out of limp so that I can get it up to the dealer?

It could be plugs or coils, for now. You might be able to swap 1 with 2 and 4 with 3 to see if the codes move. Start with the coil packs since it's fast and easy

Travelling 250 miles to get ripped by a MINI dealer makes no sense. Don't you have any shops closer with Euro car experience?

UPDATE:

So, part of it was a coil, so thats been changed out, but we're still having issues. The mech broke into it again to see if it was out of time, and they assure me that it is mechanically sound. But we're still having issues at higher rpms The mech thinks that it could potentially be the VVT Solenoid. Does anyone have any experience with that being the issue?

Also, @Minnie.the.Moocher the FRM Modual is a known issue, and mini extended the warranty on it to 10 yrs, 156k and it seems that only a mini dealer can do it outside of a tuner maybe since it has to be programmed to the VIN. My mech does work on a ton of imports and cant do it, and even the BMW dealer here in town wont touch it.

Well one of the issues was a coil, but now we're not sure what all is wrong. I am going to go pick it up from the mech today, they tore back into it to see if it was out of time, but it is not. It is in time, and drives fine unless you put your foot into it. I am wondering about it potentially being the VVT Solenoid. Does anyone have any experience with that?

I agree. Unfortunately, every mech I have talked to in my area wont touch the FRM Modual, even the BMW dealer wont touch it. It is however a known issue and it is under extended warranty, up to 10 years/156k miles. It has to be flashed to the VIN in the 2011.
