So yesterday morning I went out, unlocked the car, got in, but the fob in the docking station, hit start and nothing. Silence. Then I noticed none of the dash lights came on. I have power for door locks and windows. Checked the battery, orginial bmw, 5 years old. 12.1 volts. Jumping with jump box didn't change. Went to move car out of the way and it is locked in Park. Read about release, checked and that found the yellow release handle broken.


Spend last night reading threads on forum. Saw a lot of battery replacement issues. Today replaced battery with another BMW AGM of a little bigger CCA and APH.


No change. I only have 1 fob with the car so cant try another. I live in Fresno, and nearest dealer is in the bay area, 3 hours away.


Appreciate any help. Thinking maybe the docking station has an issue or the immobilizer circuit?


I love the car, had it 3 years and have put 80K on it, but I need for it to work.

Remember that is you don't get an answer here try a post over in the Gen2 area as they share allot of engineering with your CM.

 

I'm with you on the docking station. I would try replace that first. Easy to do. Just need a Torx bit set then you can pry the bottom dash panel off. The ignition switch/dock pops right out. I see ECS Tuning has it... Mfg Part #61359299332

Looks.like ita the key fob. But Docking station may be needed as well. Tested fob on another mini and got.no reaction, not even wrong key icon.

Anyone know if a new docking station has to be registered?

 

Picked up new fob Tuesday from Steven Creek Mini, in San Jose. $280 with tax. Tried it with docking station unattached from dash panel. Worked.


Put it all back together, didn't work. Several in and out attempts. Not sure if the issue is with the docking station or the ribbon cable going to the CAS module.


Has anyone had a start/stop/docking station fail? How about the ribbon cable? Looks like the whole dash needs to come off to change that cable. Any one tackle this before?

Hi, have exactly same issue with mini countryman 2014 which won't start, unlock steering and dash doesn't light up ...did anyone ever resolved this previously?
was going to ofder a new fob but doesn't sound like this would fix the issue?

 

I had the same problem at a fuel station on a highway, after refueling. I was driving for about 3 hours.

Unscrewed the battery connection nuts and waited like 3 minutes while the power is cut off.
Tightened them back and everything went back to normal.

It was just like resetting the pc. Hope this works for you too.

 

I have a 2014 mini cooper clubman same issue. anyone find any resolution yet? im living off student wages and broke so im really limited with trying alot of options , pulled the yellow tab , still cant get it out of park, and yes, the whooooollle length of the tab.
radio works , locks intermittently work at random even, like its possessed. lighst interior play tug of war with two colors. no headlights, and obd2 reader wont recognize.

That sounds like footwell module issues. Their was a recall going also, so check your VIN with MINI : https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...solutions.html
