Key Fob Slot Stuck

2007 Mini Cooper- went to the store to grab a few items. pushed the fob in to get the key out. I didn't notice anything unusual when I pulled it out but something definitely happened because when I returned to my car I tried to insert the fob back in and noticed that the slot was stuck and the slider was all the way in still.

I was able to insert the key but nothing comes on, I can't start the car, the slider doesn't slide anymore when pushed and my key buttons don't work either and I had to lock my car manually when I left. no Idea what to do. car is still at store a mile away. Gonna have a buddy help me tow it back to my barracks this weekend.

The docking staying can get stuck. I ended up ordering a new one. be careful when removing the bolster as the docking staying bolts to it.
