Odd Warning Light Not in Manual

Hi -

1. Today I got the symbol for the Driver's side Window in my Tach Display accompanied by the Gong sound and a Triangle with !. It went away after about 5 minutes. I can't find this symbol in the list of standard warning lights.

2. Should the car object if I put it in gear with a door open? Right now it does not.

Thanks! Yes i am new and I only have about 300 miles on it.

How do you know it was for the drivers side window? Can you take a picture of the symbol? I have a triangle that comes up occasionally, I'm just trying to remember what it's for... Maybe I'll go out to the car and give it a go

Hope we can get this all worked out

Kyle

I don't know but the symbol looked like a window. It's gone now.

window light

Having the same issue but only when it rains. Got a picture this time and going to dealer in about a week for a tint issue and will post when I get a answer from tech. Cycling the windows does seem to turn light off, kinda sucks running windows down when it rains though!

Here you are sir, like i said I plan to pin down a tech when at dealership, hoping to get a answer and fix. Driven in rain maybe four times and got this light at least twice, in 1500 miles.

I'm going to guess that it has something to do with synchronizing the windows after a power failure or battery disconnect. Nothing more than a guess, but it sounds similar to an issue that I had on my Mercedes SLK.

window light

Spoke with tech at mini service, they seem to think it has something to do with the sensors that keep you from running the windows up when there is something hanging out the window, like dog or kids. They hooked it up and there was no fault codes of course, couldn't be that easy, I told them that it was happening when it was raining so they took it through a car wash but of course the light never came on. Working in the service industry myself I am well aware of trying to fix something when you cant get it to fail so I feel like they did what the could at the time and told me to just keep them posted if and when it happens again. Sorry no definitive answer but so goes.

I asked my local SM and he said it was the same thing, like a pinch detection. He said the anti trap is turned off and the windows need to be reinitialized. I bet something is shorting out though if this synonymous with rainy weather.

Good luck.

Oh I'm so glad I'm not hallucinating the window sensor appearing the in rain. I have this problem too.

Still having this problem. MINI suggested I reinitialize the windows by sequentially holding each window button down for 10 seconds and followed by holding it up for 10 seconds. Sounds like a runaround but will give it a try and report back. We have plenty of rain here to test...

The solution was suggested on Oct 14, 2012 by yetti96.... and it took you two yrs after your original post in Jul 2013 to say you are still having this problem? Why not just get it fixed?

Thanks for such a helpful reply. My SM is apparently just incompetent because he does not know what is causing this problem and has never seen it before even though I have complained at all my service appointments about it.

This fix worked for me! Have a Countryman Cooper D that I run in rainy Scotland. But the 10sec up 10 sec down on each window seemed to do the trick!

Seems so common they should put it in the manual!
