2012 CMS All4 (6M) pulling to right when accelerating on hwy
I brought my car in to the dealership because it pulled to the right when accelerating, braking, and coasting. Dealership did an alignment. Solved the pulling while coasting and cruising, but when I accelerate on the highway, it pulls to the right. See below.
If I am in 6th gear, cruising down the highway at 70mph, and I decide to accelerate (still in 6th gear), it pulls to the right. I brought it back to the dealership, and they tell me that after talking with the shop foreman of both MINI and BMW, they all do that. It is called TORQUE STEER. I don't think so.
How much torque could there be at 70mph in 6th? Not enough to significantly pull to the right.
From a standstill at full throttle, maybe. For that matter, the All4 system is supposed to even mitigate that. Suggestions, Advice, anything?
I think there is a problem, but MINI is sticking with the TORQUE STEER theory. The car is still at the dealership. I need feedback.
Thanks,
ChuyLite

I have NEVER experienced torque steer in this car! Most of the time I drive it like I stole it! I even tried to get it to TS while taking off with my hands of the wheel, and it was solid! Ask your dealer to take you for a ride in one off their lot and prove to you that they ALL have TS!!
TS on 2012 CMS All4 (6M) - not right!
The dealership is claiming that there is torque steer when you give the car a little gas in 6th to speed up from 70mph to 80mph (say).
It think the dealership is making up stuff.
I test drove a CMS with the auto, and that one did not even have TS, even though it downshifted several gears when accelerating.
Thanks for the responses.

no torque steer in mine, none at all
i can accelerate or decel at any speed in any gear with my hands off the steering wheel

Any update on this? As many others noted, the All4 has no torque steer (which is why I had to get the All4 in the first place).
I assume you or the dealer has already checked your tire pressures. Tire pressure should be the same from right to left, although it can be different from front to rear.
It's possible the tires wore unevenly because of the alignment problem. That would cause a pull under acceleration. Of course, road crowning, road ruts and grooves in concrete can pull a car around too.
