Trunk Won't Open

A self-inflicted wound but nonetheless I need some help.

I had a towel in the trunk to protect it from some dirty cargo and managed to close the trunk while the towel was covering the latch mechanism...now I can't get the trunk open. Seems that the fabric has been wedged in there good and the mechanism won't release.

Other than taking it to the dealer, does anyone have an suggestions as to how I can get it to release...preferably without breaking anything.

Thanks,
Chris

Have you tried the manual trunk release? It's suppose to be in the back somewhere near/under the back seats -- but I've not looked and don't have my Bently manual with me to refer to.

maybe have someone on the inside push with their feet against it as you try and open it from the outside?

I'll have to look for a manual release...hopefully such a thing exists and will do the trick.

As for pushing from the inside, I tried that but the mechanism isn't releasing so I was unsuccessful.

If anyone else has any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks

You ahve to hold up the handle and pull / push at the same time I think. I did this once.

So far no luck...I will enlist my son into forced labor to attempt further repair.

2 years later..
My wife manage to do the same, left a towel for the dog, and when she closed the trunk, got it stuck....
I went inside, pushed with my legs and got it opened.
Handy trick to keep in mind, and 2 years from this post, still works!!

Have to watch that you don't jam the lock. Give a quick shot of grease afterwards on the lock side. #4
