Tire pressure indicator issue
Tire pressure indicator issue
Got in my CM this morning and the tire pressure indicator was on. Arrows pointing to all four tires. I jumped out and took a look, but they all looked fine. So I checked the pressure with a guage and all is good. So why the indicator???
Only thing I can think of is that the outside temp dropped from 71 to 51 overnight. Could that have tripped the sensor? Hate to make a trip to the shop just to have them tell me it's something stupid.

temp changes can make the pres' change in the tire and that would trip the sensors IF they fall below minimum.
new systems point to the corner in question? new one on me . .
on the other hand I have not found the TPMS in my cars to be THAT sensitive. But if you checked with a good gau' then, just reset the system and see when it happens next.

mine went off for no reason once, pressure was fine. I reset it and have not had it go off until a couple weeks ago when the pressure in 2 tires dropped to about 30 psi. put some air in and they reset themselves. I think they are just real sensitive and something that can be a little glitchy.
Of the probably 50+ times it's gone off in my R53, there have been 2 where it was legit. Both were when I had a nail in my tire so I'm glad it went off, but I wish there weren't so many false positives.
My right rear just went off this morning with a big temperature drop... 40's-50's in the AM where it used to be 60's... It didn't auto-clear by lunch so I stopped into a gas station to top off all the tires and had to run a manual reset... Cleared out and was fine... Maybe off by a couple pounds where it was looking for 32 all around...
This just happened to me yesterday morning... 4 flat tires? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Checked them, 30 lbs....all four. Got the big compressor fired up in the garage, put them all at 33 and it was happy. It took one longer to clear but it finally did.
Was cool to see it pointed to the specific tire.

mine went off this morning as well, only pointing to the drivers side front tire. I went to a gas station and had the pressure checked and air put in all 4 and then the indicator went away.
The R53 used the ABS wheel sensors to simulate a TPMS system. This wasn't exactly the most accurate system. The Countryman uses a real TPMS system.
Just a quick note everyone but this happens every time the weather changes on the cool side like this and can result in your car being low about 1-3 psi. I find the TPMS in the mini's to be very sensitive but at least the new cars show which corner is low. For me it seems like my cars like 34 psi to turn off the warnings.
my wife's nissan rogue low tire pressure warning went off the other day...once i filled them and drove it some miles the warning light stopped. as a tip, i bought a black and decker "air station", it is so useful to fill auto tires...you just set the tire pressue using the dial and after hooking it up turn it on and it fills the tire until it reaches the desired pressure and then turns off automatically....best purchase in recent memory and i think it was 30 dollars or so on amazon.
