Talking Wish I done this earlier!

Was on the fence on spending the $500+ in attempt to make the CMA4 a little more fun to drive. What if it didn't work and stuck with very little change.....?

Eventually, installed the burgertuning JB+ and thought, its ok; then..

Installed sprint booster CY 13-14, and CM feels like a MINI sports car.

The green setting takes away lag in low rpm and in sport mode, drives like the car actually now has a sport mode....

The red setting is awesome! I am leaving my setting as red as the car is just fun to drive even in non-sport. In sport, it feels like a rocket.

I didn't think it would make that big of a change. I had a Cooper S Clubman prior to CM. Wished I had installed SB on Clubman.

I think the weight of the All4 takes out some of the go cart spirit, the SB and JB bring it back.

If you are moving up from a Cooper S, and/or just not impressed by the CM get up and go, then (IMHO) these upgrades are definitely worth the money.

Congrats on the upgrades. There's nothing like waking up the performance of your car. I would comment that IMO, the JB+ is the better investment if you have to get just one: it gives real power vs. just throttle mapping. Anyway, enjoy.

I just added the SprintBooster recently too and had the same experience. I know it doesn't add any HP, but accessing the HP it does have in a better way is AWESOME!

Why don't car mfgs improve the throttle by wire design so the booster isn't needed? Seems like a cheap easy fix that would make the cars more appealing. Just one of those crazy things I never understand.

That is what the MINI "sport mode" does. I never use it except when autocrossing where hundreths of a second can matter. Modding is a sport in itself, often done for looks, feel, or personal preference as well as performance enhancement that the majority of owners don't want.

That's just it. It's not a matter of "improving". They intentionally de-tune the car to appeal to the masses. We are not the masses....

Mine is auto. I find the sprint booster helps most in low end, getting out of the gate. Sport mode is now actually sporty. No lag when trying to pull out of a slow moving lane to a faster one and feeling like it is taking forever for the engine to kick in.

The JB+ helps more in the high in when you need to get around the idiot who is blocking the left lane and refuse to move over, grr. With JB+ and SB they get to kiss by Cosmic Blue butt as I whip past...

I don't own either device so I'm not disputing this info, but others have said JB+ helps on the low end.

The description from burger Tuning:

Featuring quick plug and play installation the N18 JB+ adds up to 20whp and 30wtq to your N18 equipped MINI. Fuel economy is unchanged during normal driving and the tuning works in conjunction with the DME rather than against it ensuring optimal but more aggressive boost levels with air/fuel ratios and timing to match. Boost is increased 2-4psi on average depending on the climate and conditions.

The description from Sprint Booster:

What is Sprint Booster?

Since 2000, MINI has replaced responsive cable throttle systems with the cheaper electronic versions. Unfortunately, they've robbed your MINI Countryman of its performance.

Sprint Booster not only corrects this problem, it actually improves your throttle response. It unlocks your Countryman's potential, creating a smoother, more powerful ride.

Sprintbooster gives you:
Quicker acceleration
Faster passing
Responsive uphill driving
Quicker gear changes
Easier rev matching

My experience has been as described. HP and Torque don't help with throttle delay from the electronic drive by wire. Engine hasn't even kicked in. So, the two work great together doing different things. IMHO

Can anyone validate the changes on the Manual?

I bought the Manual exactly because the Auto didn't feel like a MINI to me at all! It's a blast, but is there really that much more available even with the Manual?

I would imagine they would do a bit less...

Ive had both, save your money and get a Manic stage 1 tune. it will be cheaper than buying the two others. While a really liked the JB+ the Sprint booster just changes the algorithm on the drive by wire to be either more linear or more biased towards the first 25% of pedal travel. The Manic tune no only changes the complete mapping of the ECU to add more boost, better AFR and more power it also changes the throttle response to much more linear like us 50+ yr old gearheads remember from the 60's and 70's. The Manic is $500 which is less than the other two combined bought new.

I have had the JB+ for several months and just recently added the sprint booster. JB+ does give you an increase on low and high end slightly more biased on the high end, however what I think he was meant from the experience I have had so far is the sprint booster gives you quicker access to the extra power the JB+ gives. It truly is a great combo especially when paired with my ALTA CAI for bad *** engine sound. Using sport mode now just enhances the whole experience especially having the auto transmission.

Ok, I finally got a sprint booster to go along with my JB+ I got a few months ago. My initial impressions is that JavaAddict was right! I could definitely feel the extra power from the JB+, but there was still that hesitation when taking off from a full stop. The sprint booster has eliminated that issue for me, and now the car is even more fun to drive. Thanks for posting about your experience JavaAddict!

they're both great additions.
i finally got tired of my dealer disconnecting my sprint booster every time it went in for service so ended up just removing it.

Why would they remove it?
