Hi, new here. My girlfriend just bought a 2012 CMS all4. The car is loaded and has everything, except the "technology package" I've done some looking around and I've found a few people doing aftermarket head units on other models but non yet on a R60. Her old car had Bluetooth audio and navigation along with a backup camera. So she is desperately missing those extras. It appears that the factory navigation won't work on her model because it doesn't have the factory wiring equipped. I have come across a componay in China called Seicane which makes an android based unit that looks very siminlar to the factory unit, but I haven't found anyone who's done one yet. I'm curious if anyone on here could send me in the right direction as far as what works or what people have done with the countyman.
I am in the same boat as you - and while it's not as integrated as a factory system would be, my plan is eventually to go with one of the Garmin navi units and a BC30 backup camera. I think all-in you could probably get away with everything for around $250. The Garmin navigation units come in sizes up to 6" or 7" now so it'd be just as big as if not bigger than some factory screens.
For bluetooth audio I picked up one of these Tune2Air WMA3000B devices for $89 and it works like a charm - I have one of these in another car too.
I'm Diggin that mini Bluetooth adapter.
I was thinking of going the same route with the External navigation but it looks kind of clunky/cheesy. I might end up doing a rear veiw mirror back up camera combo. The factory looking ones posted here I have been looking into as well, but that company doesn't have any good reviews. Numerous people have complained that there is no customer support either. Not to mention when I contacted the sales department they said that I needed another adapter to keep and use the Factory Harman Kardon system. I will keep this thread posted on what I end up doing I want it to look as factory as possible and right now the rearview mirror back up camera combo might be my best option seeing how I use my phone for navigation anyway.
I've also recently seen ads for a product from Pearl Auto which uses an app on your phone for the camera monitor so there is nothing new to install into your car. It has a clean look, but it is expensive ($399)
I just got one of these, it goes where the factory license plate light goes. when this install is all said and done, it will look 100% factory. I'll keep posting as I get it all done.
Where is a good place to purchase one of these units. I have found them on AliExpress, but they do not garrenty that there will not be an extra charge by customs.
I just bought one on AliExpress and it was 25$ and some change. Just look for the reviews if any and pray lol. I've ordered quite a few things from China and have yet to be ripped off. Some things have been below par for quality but then again I haven't paid a lot for them either.

I really like this, to bad I didn't see this before. I mounted a nearly flush back up cam under the 3rd brake light on the inside. Now I am waiting on a rear view mirror with4.3" monitor in it to arrive. You have an option to choose the style of mounting bracket. The one I chose is supposed to replace the OE mirror all together. I do not have auto dimming and if I did I still wouldn't mind, it's not like the car is so big that I cannot reach the mirror while driving if it were to present a problem.
Anyway, once I receive it and installed, I will take pics and post them. Thank you again for this thread though, I really like this option and may still go with it if my little project doesn't pan out.
Got the camera and it's not for the car so I had to modify it a little a use screws. It still looks pretty good and I'm okay with the location. Still waiting for the mirror. More pics soon.
Hello everyone! I am from Europe but by searching all the forums I learned the most from yours! For more than a year I have been looking for and looking at which device to buy but I couldn’t decide which device to buy. Seican is not recommended as I have seen that a lot of people have complained about the technical support and that the device itself stops working or does not work properly.
My question is simply I own Mini Cooper S R56 2007 years, I would like your opinion which of all the devices on the forum would be the most reliable to buy?
A speedometer along with the screen is possible but not necessary. Thank you!
