Who's Countryman is released to carrier and waiting for transport?
Well the Countryman is finally finished November 2nd and is already released to the carrier awaiting transportation to port of exit.
This is going to be about the longest 3-4 weeks ever!!! Don't really know how long transit time is to USA from factory in Austria.
The great news is that the PDC is in New Jersey so I would not have to wait too long to get it to my dealership.

Congratulations, it appears your about 1 day ahead of us in completion.
These are supposed to ship out of Bremmerhaven but not sure what line.
Per my dealer the delay is sometimes getting from the factory to the shipping point, but then it goes smooth.
Where did you see it was released to the carrier?
Don

The shipping line is Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines. I looked at vessels at
www.2wglobal.com and if it is leaving Bremerhaven, Germany to New York there are two vessels coming in end of November.
The vessel "Undine" leaves 11/10 and arrives NY 11/23/10.
The next vessel "Queen Saphire" leaves 11/15 and arrives NY 11/25/10.
I guess it depends how quickly they can truck the cars from Austria to Bremerhaven, Germany where the boat will be leaving.
I am hoping my car can make the the ship that leaves on 11/10 since Countryman was released on 11/3/10 for transportation.
I guess in a week I should be able to put in the vin number on the website to see what vessel it would be on.

A boat just left on November 3rd. We missed it!
Usually the boat leaves the port and arrives in New York. From there the VDC takes over and goes to Customs......once released by Customs it will be than given to the trucking company who will deliver it to the dealerships.
I am U.S. Customs Broker and I usually clear commercial shipments coming into the USA for my customers. I do not specialize in car imports but I would think it would be almost the same but the paperwork is a little bit complicated.
Since this is a new model I hope there is no holdup with Customs.

y'all need to prepare yrselves for delays due to EPA emissions certification for all 50 states once yr. vehicles arrive at the VDC. It happens to all new, and new model year, automobiles imported into the United States. I was one of the first to get an 09 MCS in Sept 2008, and the delay was about a week.

As for the EPA delay, it might hit us, but I think a group of Countryman's are coming over on an earlier boat.
All the dealer order/demo machines.
Always like to keep track. I noted the two ships coming out of the port in late November, I hope we make one of them.

Hi inimini2007: That's great news. Was pricing available from the dealer (which one) when you order it? If so did you pay sticker price for it? I'm waiting for pricing before going to the dealership.

I ordered the countryman from Mini of Morristown. I payed sticker price but I am getting the first one coming to the dealership. I was not expecting to get this car till January but car allocation came up early and I hope it will be on a boat soon enroute to New Jersey. Still waiting for MA Brian to advise status of the countryman since he can track it better.
I hope to install a clear bra and some stripes before picking up the car. The clear bra must be installed because those rock chips can hit pretty hard on the mini.
Before I went to the dealership I printed the Countryman PDF pricing sheet on Motoringfile.com which helped alot when it came time to built the car even though the configurator was not up yet.

I am in the process of ordering...
my MA said that those that have november builds may not have their countrymans released until the "release date" even though they will be in the country much earlier than that. Anybody else here this?
Also i am also interested in sticker price question...the countryman i spec'ed up was $41400 with everything i have on my clubman except navi/connectd. That doesn't include any sport stripes, clear bra, etc.

The MA said...
that when the clubman was released several years ago they did the same thing. They waited until the car was "officially" in the US before those that had been ordered and completed well before that date. It doesn't change my mind but it makes waiting harder knowing my car is sitting in a lot somewhere waiting to be driven hard!!
