JCW is the same....be sure to get the new under hood diverter and the cover diverter to replace the current one...
Only drawback is it must be removed to get at the sparkplugs...so maybe an extra 15 minutes...
Most aftermarket units test WORSE than the stock...
And remember, an ic does not MAKE power in a supercharged motor, but let's you MATAIN it under challenging conditions.... Such as a hot day and or high rpms....
Due to the location, ALL will heatsoak...
Light ones like the OEM cool down fast....Near instant recovery....some heavy ones take a bit longer to heatsoak, but take much linger to recover...for most the OEM or go is the best...other are mostly bling...and many do WORSE than stock.....

i dont know what the under hood diverter and cover diverter are, trying to find the part number on mini.sewell
Note that Zippy is talking about the R53 with the top mounted intercooler and not the 2nd gen+ front mounted intercooler. A lot of what he posted has nothing to do with your MINI (under hood diverter, cover diverter, spark plugs, supercharger, etc).
There's a thread on the JCW intercooler here (price $300-$375): https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-question.html

So some more info...
Check out helix/forge..their stepped intercooler is the best..think they make r60 offerings ....a bit $$, but sometimes you can find them used....
A few threads on various Chinese ic are around....usually they look OK...but performance is subpar...sometimes looking like a clone of the good product for folks who want to be a bit of a poser, but if you look at the construction... It is apparent....
Good luck...there are a couple more options for you, sorry if I derailed you with the wrong info...must have been speed reading and missed your car type that night!! Sorry again!!
Thanks I'm sold on the jcw r60 fmic. Great price and looks as good as aftermarket ones in terms of specs.
