Rubber Seal Separating

The rear rubber seal on my 2013 R59 has started to separate.

The external rubber which presses against the soft top when it's up seems to be in 3 pieces. The left and right sides are joined at the middle by a third rubber piece that lays on top of them -- with about a 1" gap between the two larger seals. ______------______

The center rubber rubber has started to separate and pull away from the larger side pieces, and aside from being a little ugly, I'm worried about water getting under the soft top.

I've tried using automotive tape underneath, rubber cement on the very narrow overlap, and automotive weatherstripping adhesive. All have failed in a few days.

Anyone have any pro tips? Thanks in advance.

Pics? Might help us visualize what you're describing.

I thought about that right after I went out to take one more stab at it. Assuming the next fix fails, I'll post some pics.

Thanks again for the help.

It's a 2013 still under warranty, why not simply take it to the dealer to get fixed properly at no cost to you?

Thumbs up Rubber seal

I know exactly what you're referring to. Mine is popping up as well. I'd be interested to hear the outcome with the dealer.

Ooohh that guy . . . my mind was not on that at all. I was thinking window seal for some reason. Now I see a picture and read the original description, it makes perfect sense! Other than being a little ugly, yes I wouldn't overly worry about this little piece. It is there to finish the loop and to avoid a massive amount of water entering that area. But none of this is really water tight. It's mostly to avoid excessive amount of water during heavy downpour.

If it's under warranty I would have it fixed. But after that I personally probably would fix it myself one way or another... One of which could be to look on how to properly remove it, and then heat it with a heat gun. If that fail, than replace it.
