R59 R59s why so many automatics?
Hi ya'll,
I owned an R56 for a few years that I loved (but had to sell in a move). I'm now looking for an R59 (s) on craigslist etc... One thing that has struck me is it seems that there are a lot of automatics (whereas for the R56 S models it seemed like 60% manual).
Used R59s don't come up often around here (4 in the last month) and they have all been automatics (I know the steptronic transmission is supposed to be nice, but I still prefer the manual)... Anyone know the ratio in the R59 fleet?

The answer is quite simple...
US + Demographic for roadsters
. . . really not that surprising
You're best bet is to broaden your search and be willing to go far to pick-it up.
I know that's what I would do if I was in your case.
A few hundred miles isn't that far . . . but I guess warranty adds to complexity I guess.

This is the answer. I've flown to California to buy a used car. I've flown to Tennessee to buy a used motorcycle. I never factored in the cost of the trip as part of the cost of the purchase. I always figured it was the cost of a neat mini-vacation.

prepare to pay a premium too, it's been getting worse and worse with bmw's
there is 0 chance in me owning an automatic bmw or mini, the used market is drastically smaller and sellers know it and even advertise it "rare manual" Lol

The French have a lovely term for cars like this: 'boulvardiers' - or cars to be driven down a Paris boulevard, being seen.
I mean, how can you do a good hair flick at each intersection if you have to rummage around with some stick on the floor?
