R59 JoNack report ..
JoNack report ..
Dear friends,
Having a blast .... Just got my car detailed at Dan's Detailing, Leominster , MA... Immediately off to Starbucks, where , a woman pulling out of parking space, said: "that has to be the prettiest car I have ever seen"... I concur!
Going on 13K... No issues, at all ... An idiot light did flash for about 10 seconds a few weeks ago. Hasn't appeared since; not sure what it was... Matilda passed the winter test with flying colors , and with the all season stock tires / wheels. My long range plan is to turn it over for a new roadster when the warranty expires ... I AM CONCERNED THAT MINI WILL STOP PRODUCTION BY THEN... Don't have a plan B, yet..
To all my contemporaries: please report in.. Any issues? Mileage? Adventures?
All the Best,
John (JoNack)

My report:
15,163 miles on the clock...that mileage includes motoring adventures to the Black Hills in SD; Door County, WI; St. Ignace, MI (the Mack); the Arkansas Ozarks (MITO); and a 10-day fall adventure to the Great Smokies and the Dragon.
Not a single issue other than a minor case of the well-reported soft top wear spots and the folded top rattle (the latter was immediately rectified with a small piece of foam). Quite a few mods, mostly for aesthetic purposes (see Garage). I love new mods and thinking of ways to make my Roadster more unique, and my OCD makes frequent detailing a joy.
I never fail to get noticeable attention, accolades, and shout-outs of "nice car!" from total strangers whenever and wherever I motor. The MINI in general is becoming more commonplace, but the R59 is still unquestionably a head-turner.
It's my third MINI, but I think I'll be keeping this one for a while.

My report: 13,100 miles including several autocross's and sporting drives. Car is doing great with the only issue being the top rattle when down. The problem came back last month after the temporary fix and was repaired based on the current service bulletin. All smiles now.
I replaced my run flat tires a couple of months ago with Continental Extreme DW non RFTs. The ride is much better but the crisp turn in feel is gone and the DW's don't perform any better than the RFTs. Next time I will go with the Pilot Super Sport's for better grip and feel.
Still loving my adjustable rear sway-bar.
Thanks for checking in Jonack.

Hey Jonak,
Last September my wife and I went to the Watkins Glen Vintage car show/races.
While I was there I thought to my self. In 25 years if I can hold out I will have a very rare classic car of the likes of the MG's, etc ...
Hard part is I like that new car smell...
Anyway, two weeks ago my right front tire was punctured by a self tapping screw. I plugged it, but just didn't feel good about it so I moved my winter plans ahead 6 months and purchased performance wheels and tires.
I still have that set of Blizzaks in my garage so I'll put those on my stock rims for the winter.
I haven't had any problems to this point 32000 miles.
Who knows...
This year out of 300 cars at MINI's on Top there where only 7 roadsters. Last year there where 9.
Think about how many you will see in 25 years............
