Wahoo - Virgil has been Produced

Just received a call from my MA that VIRGIL, my Chili Red Roadster S, was completed earlier today. Last VIN#'s 5202.

Sooooo, I been through the let's go Order a Roadster phase; then met my MA and Ordered it; went through the wait period of the Holidays for Production; and finally went into production. Now I enter the "waiting for Transport Phase" (LOL).

Think I am going to work on updating the garage while I wait another 30 days. It will help bm keep my sanity!!!!

Thanks to all for your help and encouragement….I know it is going to be worth it once VIRGIL arrives. Ken-

Feathering the nest like an expectant parent.

Congrats on reaching your production milestone!

Thanks for the encouragement Gil-galad. Love your car for sure.

Yep, gonna repair some ceiling dry wall seams, repaint the ceiling and walls with some sort of MINI colors. Have already asked the MINI Dealer if he would give me some of his old MINI posters, flags, etc.

Gotta do a garage change over from my past Harley theme (don't ride anymore) to a fun MINI theme for sure.

Already starting to enjoy my local MINI Club. Motorcyclists do the wave. MINI owners's do it too so I should feel right at home!!!

Congratulations Ken! That's very exciting. I'm excited because my order is lagging yours by about 2 weeks; it went "On Order" on the 13th and just went into "Scheduled for Production" today... VIN & everything. Can't wait!

ScottyM, sounds like you really are right behind me. I'll keep my status posted here so we can see how each of us are doing. What did you order, color/interior, options, etc….inquiring minds want to know? Thanks, Ken-

Ken/ScottyM - You will NOT regret your decision to buy a Roadster! It's like a mini vacation (no pun intended) every time I get behind the wheel! I drive mine year 'round. Does well in snow (and I know St. Louis has gotten it's share of that this winter, eh?). Big trunk...uh, sorry, BOOT, and gets 35 MPG highway. What's not to love?

Thanks Ken. I should put up a detailed post; just haven't gotten around to it. Here's the abbreviated version:

JCW Roadster - Highclass Gray w/ black bonnet stripes, Lounge Toffee seats & color line, piano black interior, & interior chrome (interior should look just like BlueToy's Black Toffee). Tech package, heated seats, adaptive lights, etc. I've never had such a customized car. I'm just amazed that my wife's putting up with it (and the bill). ;-)

Scotty, sounds like an incredible & fun car. Again, will keep you posted on VIRGIL's progress towards the VDC. YOUR's may even catch up with mine….

Spiney, I have always enjoyed your posts and they helped me pull the trigger on a Roadster and it's "fun factor". After all, I am an 18 year old trapped in a 68 year old body…. LOL

Scotty/Ken: You guys have got the lowdown on how to track your MINI while it's on the boat on the way to the US, right? (If not, see link below.)

Just advised by my MA that VIRGIL has been loaded on a ship and begun his journey across the pond.

Certainly hope he doesn't get that Nora Virus while onboard!!!!

Making progress…..next stop the VDC!!!

Any backstory behind Virgil as a name? This perhaps?

Congrats, KSVENOM. No better way of making the last stretch of time pass than to clean up and organize the garage. I did the same thing and was glad I did.

Spiney, VIRGIL is named after my father-in-law Virgil (RIP). Virgil was full of fun, energy, and quite frankly NOT NORMAL…LOL.

So naming my Roadster VIRGIL was a no brainer.

That's so much better than naming your car after a puppet, despite how totally awesome Thunderbirds is!

It's the current car, based on the R56/R57, not based on the new F56 platform.

There have been all kinds of rumours, including outright cancellation, replacement by a new unique rear-wheel drive model, or by a retractable hardtop car replacing both Coupe and Roadster, but nothing definite. If a replacement happens, it will probably be a couple of years from now, after the Clubman and Convertible get replaced.

This made me think. I've never really named my cars, but I think I'm going to name this one Ron the Roadster, after my favourite uncle who lost his battle (and I mean battle) with cancer very recently. Thanks to you both for the inspiration!
