new JCW Roadster purchase, w/questions.

hey guys,
I traded my GP for a new jcw roadster. (I really wanted a drop top)
couple of questions.
I just put in H&R springs and the car looks great, but I want to try and make the car a little more rigid with less flex. any suggestions?
also where can I order those stickers from for the bottom sides of the car? I think they have one that says JCW. I saw them on a car on this forum.
so far im loving the car, any other suggestions for mods?
thank you

I can't really imagine enjoying this car if it was more rigid lol, and the JCW has stiffer springs.

Have you swapped the tires yet? These runflats are gaaarbage. Going with some Michelins A/S3 soon.

Grippy tires and a better Rear Sway Bar. The 22 mm NM Engineering RSB is all the rave on this forum.

Not sure if anyone here has swapped in coilovers onto their Roadsters. My cousin has Bilstein PPS10s on his R56. Although the RSB is still his favorite suspension add-on, coilovers do wonders as well.

Congrats on the purchase! Go out and enjoy that b****.

Pilot super sports ROCK; currently the top rated summer tire, and by far the best rubber I've ever had on my MINI. I'm going to find out just how much they suck in the snow this winter, lol.

Try a front strut bar. I have NM frt strut bar and NM springs, 22mm NM rear sway. It has made a big difference. Also a frt lower motor mount. I haven a NM.

I totally agree with you in that those PSS are really awesome but depending where you live running them during the winter is really a bad idea!
Below 45°f the rubber start to harden. Catch an ice patch below freezing and here goes the ballerina spine, just saying...

We got the PSS not long ago and are getting a set of winter tires.

Definitely get the poly insert for lower engine mount bushing. For $50-$60 you can't beat it.

Congrats on the new JCW Roadster, so much to love about these cars.
This was my recipe:

- NM Billet Strut Brace
- NM Torque Arm insert
- NM Alpa springs
- H Sport 19mm Sway Bar (middle setting)
- Koni Yellows (Middle setting)
- Pilot Super Sports

This will transform an already very precise vehicle into an even more focused tool.

If the JCW Roadster has stiffer springs why is the sport suspension an option and why did motoringfile say MINI decided to not develop a JCW suspension for the Roadster despite it having been a listed option for some time?

I just installed the TSW X brace from Way on my convertible and the car is noticeably stiffer. I suspect that it will have as similar effect on the Roadster. I also have a rear sway bar, and I feel this much more. I'm not saying don't do the RSB, but this really stiffens up the car. No more judder and cowl shake. Even my wife noticed it as a passenger.

I think it might create a problem with the side under panels. It was tight just getting them to work with the stock braces.

It says it fits on the R59. I'm not that familiar with the R59, so I don't know what the side under panels are. Call Way and ask. I called to make sure there wasn't any interference with the braces on the R57.

You don't need an X-Brace on the Roadster...just drive it for a awhile.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Pilot Sport A/S 3 actually match or surpass the older Super Sport tires as summer tires, and they are rated as all-season.

That's not true . . . however they do have some all season, gas consumption, and a slight wear advantage so most of us should indeed consider those more seriously.

The Pilot Sport A/S 3 is a more consumer oriented tire with a broader range of driving conditions, while the Super Sport is a more sport car oriented tire that shines when hot but may suffer from lack of grip as the weather cool in normal driving conditions.

The Super Sport will definitely be ahead of the Pilot A/S 3 in performance conditions but admittedly most of us won't be in that situation anyway (even when driving spiritedly along twisty roads), yet we do feel the gas at the pump a hair more. I'm really happy with the PSS. It's my second set and I love them. But I will consider the A/S 3 more seriously the next time for sure as it may make a lot more sens for our use!

A lot of the reviews I've read were pitting them against summer tires such as the Pirelli Zero, Continental Extreme DW, etc. The A/S 3 were outperforming them in most tests. I get that a racing tire, in ideal racing conditions, will probably come out ahead but conditions are so seldom ideal :p
