Turbo Heat Shield
Who has put one on their roadster?
What brand?
Are you happy with it or would you have picked another brand?
Thanks!

I"ve had a M7 on my JCW, but wasn't all that happy with it. I have a NM Titanium unit on order for my roadster S. Hope that gives you an idea.

NM is what I have, too. Looks great and goes on easy.
Order from Way. He ships super fast.

I have the NM. I think they changed it some for the 2013, might want to ask when ordering.

I was under the impression that this wasn't really an issue anymore. Apparently it is?

Issue or not , it's always best to direct the heat away from the turbo. That's why I've gotten one got my new Roadster. The heat never affected my JCW, although the hood did get plenty hot. Not all that much fun opening the hood after a drive.

I put Way Motor Works turbo wrap on my turbocharger. It is a little more involved installation than the NM Turbo Heat Shield.

I also took the grill out of the scoop, for improved air flow. I think it looks better and the engine still stays clean, even in lousy weather.

I like how it looks with nothing in the scoop's opening.
I'd rather spend the fifty bucks on beer and pizza! lol

Ordered the JCW oem insulation today. Should have it next week. I figure if anything, it'll keep the bonnet cooler for the inevitable bird droppings

Good from the pic I saw you really need it, I'd send you a WMW if you needed.

Is there more to that NM shield than it being just a shield of metal? That's really not going to do much shielding. It will get hot and just radiate the heat, wont it?

Before I got the NM shield, after a drive to Atlanta (4 hours) in the summer, I could not touch the scoop. After installing, under the same conditions, I can comfortably rest my hand on the scoop immediately upon stopping.

How are you guys tightening the turbo bolt to the spec in the install sheet? The 2 torque wrenches I have are a bit too big to fit in the space next to the turbo.

Could you combine this with the NM Heat Shield?

Yes, it would fit over the turbo wrap, but it would just be for looks as the turbo wrap would keep the heat from getting out into the engine compartment.
