R59 JCW Aero Kit
JCW Aero Kit
I'm hoping to get my roadster order in for when the factory re-opens. I like the challenge spoke wheels and am thinking about the JCW Aero Kit. I don't really like the red stitching on the interior and wanted leatherette seats because I have cats and it's easier to get the fur cleaned off (they don't ride in the car). Are there any disadvantages to the kit? Does it lower the car (not suspension but ground clearance).
You can order your car anytime you want. You may not hit an immediate production run for a JCW, but the JCW Appearance Package can be put on almost any car and any production run. If you go with just Appearance Package it has nothing to do with anything except the looks. So no lowering. If you really don't like to stitching just dye it. I does have a value when you got to sell the car years from now, but it is your car and you can do as you see fit. That's what MINIs are about. Enjoy your Roadster. It is a hot car and a whole lotta fun to drive.
I like the red stitching on a red car. I was going to go with blue now I can't decide. I like the looks of the aero kit and really like the wheels. If I add the aero kit and go from blue to red it's only $600.
I'm trying to decide whether to go with the standard or carbon black color line. I'd like the bottom of the dash to match the top but if they're different materials it might make sense to match the seats but since the JCW is cloth I'm not sure.

The decision must be yours. Your are the customer and it is your money so you have to face the man in the mirror. Want the car you get and get the car you want. It's a MINI, you'll probably be happy either way.
I'm definitely getting the aero kit and the wheels. Just have to decide on blue or red and carbon black vs. dark grey. The blue or red I don't think I'll have a problem either way the interior I'd love to see pictures of to make sure I pick the best one.

Lightning Blue S, JCW pack, black leather/cloth, striped alloy dash and carbon black colour line. The red stitching is there, but it's not garish in any way. You can hardly see it on these photos. I'm considering getting some Redlinegoods headrest covers with the MINI logo and red stitching to get a bit more, actually...

I've noticed that when I add the JCW Aero Kit as an R59 option on the MINI USA configurator, the trim around the upper grill shows as a matching black. However, most of the pics I've seen of new Roadsters (like yours, Spiney) show this component in a chrome finish.
Can anyone break the code on this for me?

If true, it means the configurator isn't representing reality...
Edit: Doh! Like a dolt, I was trying to add the JCW Aero Kit at the tail end, under Accessories, rather than selecting it as a package. An effective way of getting less for $2K more.
