Ordering a Roadster tomorrow, any advice?

Hi all,

After a few test drives and some tedious deliberation, I've decided to order a MINI Cooper S Roadster. I'm heading into my local dealership (Kings Way BMW/MINI Garage in Melbourne, Australia) tomorrow morning to finalise everything and hand over the deposit.

Here are the final details:
MINI Cooper S Roadster
Eclipse Grey
Toffee leather (and colour line)
Piano black trim
Chrome Line interior and exterior
Visual Boost w/ Navigation
Harman Kardon
Heated seats
Semi-auto roof
Conical back wheels

The MSRP is $64,940 but I've got them down to $59,900.

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks!

Hi, Just signed up for a Coupe (second time, after a slip up by the dealer). What I did manage to get for really great prices is 3 Years Servicing, and 3 Years Extended New Car Warranty. By agreeing and paying for the 3 year extended Warranty before we pick the car up it was reduced massively. If we waited for the offer to extend the warranty, after 3 years, we would have to pay the full $3500 price. So in effect 6 years warranty from the day we will pick it up (some time in Oct). May be worth trying to talk a deal on extended warranty, if you intend to keep it a while. There is also 1 and 2 year exteded warranty, but the 3 year one worked out the best deal.
Also the JCW Package seems a good deal at $2200, as it gives some nice additions. Might be worth considering.
Let me know if you have any other questions. By the way I am buying from a Sydney based dealer, so all the costs are in AUD.

I've had mine for almost 2 months now and it's great. What I've discovered so far is that piano black shows EVERY fingerprint and all of the dust. The manual top goes down in 3 seconds and up in 4 or 5 seconds if you are strong enough. So for me, paying for a semi auto top is a waste of money. Have fun with the car, I know you will!!!!

It's too much fun, you'll love it..

Frig- That's exactly why i went with the striped alloy over the black.
The only thing i would change about my build would be getting cloth seats instead of the leatherette. You don't realize how hot the seats get until you cruise constantly with the top down!

Some of this may be standard for you, or already included in what you have specced already, but Xenon lamps with washers, comfort access, the auto lights and wipers and Bluetooth were my must-have goodies. The standard lights like my wife's Clubman are OK, but the Xenons are in a different league. I never thought I would get as attached to comfort access as I have over the several years and four cars now. It's a lot less fumbling in the dark (to coin a phrase...). Auto lights and wipers are luxuries, I'll grant you, but the auto wipers in particular are great on those days when it's not raining enough for wipers "on", but you can't just get the intermittent setting right. Bluetooth is a must nowadays, but for some reason (at least in the US) it's not standard.

I'd also get the wind deflector. I'm not sure how much the deflector does, but I use it all the time and it came in a pack with something else.

Make sure it has two seats and a ragtop.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

@Chilli_Red: Funny you say that because I was actually just reading about the maintainance and warranty. Definitely going to look into it more.

@Frig: The Roadster I've driven has the manual top and yes, you're right, it's very easy to operate. The only reason why I've decided to go for the semi-auto is because a few years back I dislocated my shoulder and it can still be temperamental so I just want to err on the side of caution just in case.

@nfo: I'm very excited! I'll be careful not to leave the top down with the car in direct sunlight, thanks for the tip.

@spiney: Xenons and auto headlights and wipers are standard here as is bluetooth which is great. Even if they weren't, they'd definitely been on my options list. Will have a look at the Comfort Access when I go into the dealership tomorrow, thanks!

@MINI #1: Fingers crossed! One of the dealers I went to while I was shopping around confessed that he ordered an auto Roadster for a client and when the car finally arrived it was a manual Coupé :/

Do you all think I've got a good price out of the dealer or should I try for a better one?

Thanks again!

Hi, congrats, not sure but if you didn't order factory alarm add it in while you can. Seems that it's quite difficult to find one aftermarket .
