R59 Anyone seen another Roadster on the road yet?
roadster sighting
I picked up my JCW roadster at Mini of Portland last sunday. Since we live 275 miles away we drove a rental car to Portland to get the new Roadster. After picking it up, while returning the rental to the Portland airport, I drove past a white roadster with the top down on the freeway to the airport. She (the other driver) was completely oblivious to my silver white roadster with the top down as I passed her. I would guess that will be my only roadster sighting for a long time to come.

Tonight I was sitting outside at restaurant with my Roadster parked out front. It was fun to watch people look and talk about it.
What's the expression? "If you have to ask, you can't afford it"
My friend has a Class C toy hauler, MINI won't fit. It will however fit in the larger Class A models. Anybody got $750,000 they aren't using?

There's nothing worse than wasted top down time.
Well, I think I finally saw another. He was northbound on 1A in North Attleboro, MA. I was so surprised I didn't get a really good look (I was going the other way) but I think it was a black S with no stripe.

I saw a Roadster about a month ago near Toronto. Fell in love with it instantly and started my shopping around. Ended up a first-time MINI owner last week. Luckily one of the dealers in the area had exactly the Roadster I wanted in their showroom, so I didn't have to wait. Haven't seen any others on the road except the ones on the dealer lot. Absolutely love the car...
According to this site there are 4.04 million miles of road in the US.
According to Motoring File this morning MINI have sold 1,402 Roadsters year to date in the US. That means an average of one Roadster per 2,881 miles of highway. I guess that explains why we don't see another one very often...

That's assuming that they're all on the road at the time as well. I've personally seen one parked in front of a coffee shop 4-5 months ago and that's the only one. I saw a couple on the highway but couldn't catch him in my rental Yaris so I only saw that one from afar.
Ordered my 2013 PW Roadster S on 8/20, and have been looking all over Austin for a Roadster and haven't seen one...until today when I went to visit my folks. The neighbors have one. Blew my mind. Guess it's time to say hello.
If we assume that allocation didn't change, and we take MINIUSA.com at their word and assume there are over 100 MINI dealers (but probably less than 110 or they would say "more than 110") then we have something like:
7 (months) x 2 (cars per dealer per month) x 100 (dealers) = 1,400 cars.
That's remarkably close to the 1,402 cars sold year to date, so I guess that means there are about 14 cars somewhere in the served area of every dealer, not counting the cars that people travelled hundreds of miles to get, which I know some folks on here did.
Spiney, I ordered my Roadster S about the same time you did, and took delivery March 24. I was also told the 2 per dealer per month story. At that time, I was the 1st or 2nd Roadster in Oklahoma. There is only one dealer in my state, and it is in OKC, roughly 100 miles from me. I have seen considerably more MINIs on the west coast and in bigger cities (Seattle and LA, specifically) than in my region, so I am guessing the cars per served area total more in areas like Boston than in areas like OKC. I certainly get a lot of looks and comments from people whenever I take it out, I guess because it is such a rare breed. Interesting stuff.
