JCW Suspension for the R59 Roadster

The only wrinkle (so far anyway, knock wood) with our new Roadster order is that my dealer says the JCW suspension isn't available yet. Well, they didn't really say "yet", but I'm expecting this is just a delay since it's a new model.
They didn't have any info on expected availability either.

This is the one JCW option I wanted to do before even taking delivery. (The JCW Tune is on my list also, but I want to be able to see the difference, so that's planned for after the break-in period!)

Has anyone heard any other information about the JCW suspension?

Has anyone had it installed on their Coupe?

Thanks!
Don

Same story on the coupe and its been on the streets for months! It really does make me scratch my head that this is not STANDARD on the JCW cars....I have to "option" a basic sport suspension and cant even order the JCW suspension "yet"

Well, I didn't want to buy the sport suspension for $500 and then wait to buy the JCW suspension....but that's what I am forced to do. When the time comes, I am only going to get the springs from the JCW suspension as I have Koni Sports for it, the sport front sway and an aftermarket rear sway so all I want is the springs...

Thanks for the info. Not sure whether that makes me more or less optimistic about seeing the JCW stuff soon.

I'd expect that they'll have it for the Coupe and the Roadster at the same time since the cars are so similar, but I'm surprised it's still not available for the Couple either.

I didn't get the Sport suspension since I knew I was going to be replacing it with the JCW Suspension immediately (in theory!).

Now I'm wondering how my backup plan of base springs and Koni FSDs would work. If I'd have known I wasn't going with the JCW Suspension, I'd have ordered the Sport suspension, sigh.

And I agree, it's always been crazy that the JCW doesn't come standard with the JCW Suspension. <shakes head>

I read something about the former head of the M Division is taking over JCW project so maybe we'll start getting some real go fast factory parts moving forward...

Let's add a real LSD to the mix on the JCW cars. If you're going to build a "hi-po" variant model like an M Division, then it ought to stand far an above the base model and have real performance items....include the JCW suspension, put some camber in the front, and give us a real LSD again!

Yeah, that is promising news for the JCW. But I suspect his focus would be on the factory JCW (as it should be IMHO), and less on the add-ons.

Either way, I'm taking that as good news for the MINI brand!

Island Don, you feel the same as several of us with JCW coupes. I didn't even recieve confirmationm the JCW suspension wasn't available unitl my car was already built. We wait patiently or will look to other options.
I mentioned this to the MINI rep at the Chicago Auto Show on Saturday and he was quite surprised to hear there was no JCW Suspension part number yet and said he'd mention that to his accessories counterpart.

Yeah, I (foolishly) assumed that since it showed up in the configurator that it was available, or at least would be when the cars started showing up. Pretty disappointed that it's not. I'd at least like to know when it will be so I can make a decision to wait or go aftermarket.

Maybe your talk with the MINI rep will prod someone into action!

Pardon my ignorance, but is the JCW suspension just shocks/springs, or does it include sways, bushings, etc. as well? I'm trying to figure out if $1300 is resonable or not. If it's just shocks/springs, a reasonable c/o kit seems like it would make more sense. Thanks.

Assuming it's like the one for the R56, it includes front and rear sway bars as well.

It's exactly what I'm after - better handling, not too harsh, and 10mm of lowering. Plus, no warranty issues.

I had it on my JCW Hatchback and really really liked it.

With all that in mind the price is not bad in my opinion. If you are after pure track-tuned handling or more aggressive lowering than there are other better choices of course.

Gotcha, Don, thanks. Yes, that would be a fairly reasonable price, then.

Though sways would run, what, around $250, then leave you with about a grand for coilovers or so? But like you said, the dreaded aftermarket/warranty issue would come up.

Does anyone know if an aftermarket shop uses the same ASB for the new Roadster as they do for the R56? I got mine from WayMotorworks (sp?). What I'm getting at is whether or not the frame/suspension on the Roadster is different from the R56 (thus requiring all different susp pieces) or whether for some other reason they just aren't offering the JCW suspension option on this car at this time (but the pieces would fit).
