How to remove the JCW bottom front grille????

Anybody has pictures of the shop manual to see the assembly?

They should be clips but I am not sure.

Our friend from ECS should have the answer.

I installed red brake duct inlets and had to remove the entire bumper cover. Took about an hour, but i was taking my time. There were instructions on line at the Forge intercooler site for an R56.

So, it seems there is no access either from behind the grille other than removing the bumper.

I will have to design some snap clips to install the grille badge I bought for this lower grille. No way I will remove the bumper.

I've had the JCW bumper off my Roadster. Royal pain in the neck. There are three push in fasteners under the bottom that must come out, but they're down an inch deep hole and almost impossible to get out. Not sure if the non JCW is any easier.

You definitely have to take off the whole bumper to do it. The tabs are on the inside.

I'll be replacing mine next weekend (one is in order from ECS) when I finish up the install of some rally lights.

Helix has a video on YouTube for installing an intercooler that shows the process of the bumper removal. It's a fairly straight forward process. Much easier if the front of the car is on jack stands.

We followed the Helix video when we removed mine. The lower splitter on the Coupe/Roadster is a slightly different design that makes those center fasteners harder to get to.

Those fasteners are also on the facelift R56, when they added the lower intercooler protection crash bar. They are a PITA, especially to get back in.

I'm not thinking you have to remove anything to put on a simple grille badge.

For the lower grille badge you can reach it with a small trim tool through the mesh. It takes some time like for the JCW Badge , but can be done. It you have someone to hold the badge, while you clip the back it can be done. Otherwise you have to take the bumper off.

The grille clips into the back of the bumper. Does not come out through the front.

Good luck.

Some other grille badges here for the top grille, which is easy/. .

Thanks for your reply. I will build my own clips for this new badge to go through the lower mesh grille without removing it.

So it looks like the bumper comes off to swap out the brake ducts too (51747328781 and 51747328782). Wish I had realized this when I had it off to put in the DRLs

The new brake duct parts in the pictures on your site look shinier than mine. Am I seeing things?

51747328781 51747328782 should be the same. Pics might be at a different angle. The Cooper S bumper ones are different then the JCW bumper version. But the Black JCW and Red Gp2 ones are the same. just different colors.

Don't know why people think it's so hard to remove the front bumper. It has been off my car at least 10 times since I've owned it. Couple screws, couple clips, and unhook the lights and you're golden. I drive it up on ramps and it's off in 15 minutes. It's also the easiest way to get to anything in the bumper (except the upper grill).

I agree. Once you've done it, it goes pretty quick.

see YouTube video FiveYorks

I know this is an older thread but if you come across it when you are removing the grill and/or bottom grill trim there are a number of YOuTube videos to show how. Without question the best one from my point of view when I did it recently was from the FiveYorks. He has the camera pointed so you can actually see what he is doing and has great tips. I don't know the guy doing this video but I watched half a dozen or more trying to figure it out when the grill and trim pieces were delivered without ANY instructions. The lack of instructions is becoming my most constant complaint!
