Ordered 2015 JCW Coupe!

Hey people! I decided to get back into the mini family. I missed my '07 R56, I shopped around trying to find a car that felt MINI but was unable. Then I realized the R58 is still being built much to my surprise, because I thought they stopped when the R56 stopped. Glad I was wrong.

I tried to find a GP new, bid on one in portland but was unsuccessful. But I wasn't exactly sure I wanted bare bones without any of the creature comforts. I want the car for autocross, track days and commuting. The GP would be great for 2/3, but not 3/3 of those things. Plus there is the hurdle of trying to get a car from out of state.

I brought my helmet to the mini dealer today to make sure I fit, test drove an automatic R58 Cooper S. Had a blast and knew this will scratch the MINI itch. (When the fiesta st wrx sti and focus st wouldn't)

I like the uniqueness of the coupe. I owned a '02 BMW M Coupe before people came to their senses on the styling there.

Anyway here is my build
'15 JCW Coupe
White Silver, Black Roof, Stripes
Black xenons
Tech Package
City Package
Sport Suspension
Black JCW Wheels

I am super stoked can't wait to get my build slot to start the obsessive build/shipping tracking!

Congratulations, I am sure you will like the little rocket.

You'll love it. I got mine off the lot in Scottsdale in April, had a 2007 MCS for 7 years and loved that car. This car is a whole notch above my original one. FYI Mini never stopped making the Coupe. I think the stopped the Clubman recently. The F56 JCW won't start production until next spring I think. They say the GP and JCW are very similar cars. The GP has suspension upgrades I think and is lowered, but the engines are the same. I'm real happy with my sports suspension. I had a 21mm rear sway bar on my 2007 and this feels even better.

I know the R58 has never been out of production since introduced in 2012 but the JCW Coupe trim seems not so clear. IT is what I have been told because there was not enough buyers, impractical as a two seaters and furthermore expensive in the JCW trim so they stayed on the dealer lots unsold. It is the reason some of us have been able to find these brand new 2013 models as late as July 2014.

Now, if they can be special ordered in JCW trim as it seems, it is another story and it make sense. It is still a very expensive car with the options list going on.

My questions are:

1-How much time from order to delivery in USA?

2-How much would it cost to upgrade an S Coupe to JCW specs?

1- My dealer said approx 10 weeks. They are waiting for a build slot. He says they share the line with the F56 but I didnt confirm that.

2- Way more expensive than just buying the JCW version from the factory not to mention the loss of warranty.

Upgrading an S to a JCW is substantially cheaper then just buying a JCW when it comes to getting an surpassing power levels.....

BUT the exclusivity alone makes that purchase worth it. Hence why I might order a JCW myself and trade in the S.

Congrats on the order!

I guess I don't know all the differences. I thought that changes to the engine exhaust and brembo calipers alone justify the cost diff. I think the suspension is different too right? Don't forget about the aero kit included as well he would need to get that painted. If you add all those things up it seems to be very close?

I agree in that regard,
I thought he meant just power wise.

But everything else you mentioned are definitely other things to consider as well.

If I order one, my top thing on the list is those Recaro seats lol

Congrats on the order!
also the JCW has a larger turbo than the Cooper S. I have an S and did this route myself even though at times i regret not getting a JCW version from the get go.. however i do love my ALTA 3" JCW exhaust; sounds so burly and mean..

Almost got black wheels but went with silver. I may still do black for my autox / track set.

Really like the black on that silver, pics above in motion look awesome. We will have MINI factory wheel & tire sets at a very good price here soon , in case you want to swap. Wheels are 18" , so maybe not the best size / weight for auto cross.

I was going to get a set of the JCW challenge black 17" if I go that route. They are about what 23lbs each I think. Another vendor has 16lb wheels I would consider. I am mainly doing autox for fun not really sure how competitive I would be.

Those are nice around ~24 Lbs each.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...heels-but.html

But the deal of the week right now is the full sets with wheels / tires / mounted and balanced R105's or R113 which are 18" ~25lbs each + tires , comes with Pirelli P Zero tires RF Summers.

These are full sets of four for one price.

These come with TPMS and JCW center caps. The TPMS are for -9/2009 MINI , so you can have them coded out for the TPMS by an aftermarket shop or just live with the TPMS light on. Option #2 Get http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES2763259/ and install so it will work with the 9/2009+ MINI TPMS system.

These used to be $3200.00+ a set, they just came down in price. Limited quarantines, get them while they last.

R105's will need spacers for JCW 4 position brakes.

-----------------
Or

-----------------

R113 , same thing with the TPMS . These don't need spacers for the JCW 4 piston brakes. See pics.

Gives you some options and these wheels look so good in person. JCW envy.

All awesome wheels. I'm not sure what I plan to do. I do like the idea of having silver and black to change up the look. I'm also digging the idea GP2 wheels you have on my white silver / black coupe as well. But again since they're stock they also are a bit heavy.

You should really look at the NM wheels. They fit with all the brake kits, are 15lbs each wheel, and super strong. I'm running them on my GP and love em.

Yeah I saw those. I am very interested. I need to cool my jets and get the car first haha. I also need to sell my old 16x6 slipstreams.

I am very interested in having that done. How did you go about it if I may ask?

The body kit is around $2k installed. The brake kit is similar I think. But the turbocharger is not available to install in the MCS and that's what makes it a different car. You can tune the MCS and make it better and mess with the exhaust and stuff, but you can't upgrade to that turbocharger. Total extra for the JCW is just south of $7k and you get some wheels, interior stuff with that.
